I think I am the only person who remembers what a dreadful movie this is and such an undistinguished score.
I will see it because I try to see all the Broadway musicals, but I am not holding my breath for anything good. I have the same wary anticipation I had for Saturday Night Fever.
Special effects like a flying car do not a musical make. A solid book and score interpreted by an able cast (which admittedly does look good) and tight direction make a good musical.
If a show cannot be performed without its set, then something is wrong with the show. Even Cats could have been done on a bare stage, and I thought that show was witless (witfree?).
As for the title reminding you of 'something else', yes. The question begs, how low can you go? The one popular 30+ years ago would get me banned from the board. Discuss amongst yourselves and post in ig-pay atin-lay.
