Chitty Stalls Once Again (except it wasn't the car's fault!)

I couldn't find the thread on here so I'm assuming no one went to the tuesday night show of Chitty. Well, The CLOCK that hangs from the flys right before Toot Sweets didn't go up. The show was stopped for almost an hour before the problem was fixed. Raul and the Henry and Gabbie were out on the stage "entertaining" the audience while we patiently waited. I was actually surprised that not many people left considering the long wait. After a while, Zien and Sella came out with a few jokes and 2 horrible rounds of Row Row Row Your Boat. Other than that, the show was fine...I'll write my 2nd review of it later.

Also, Kevin Cahoon took my roomate and I backstage after the show. I went once before after a performance of 42nd Street, and I absolutely LOVE that theatre!

I heard about that! I've seen the show stopped once but have yet to be entertained because of it. :)

Basically, they just took questions from the audience. Raul was completely beside himself when he found out there were Cubans from Miami in the Mezz. He just couldn't get over it.

He sat on the edge of the stage...every once in a while he would go backstage to see how long it was gonna be, and he always had the same answer "10 min" LIE!

Gabby was cute.

Gabby was cute, but she was even cuter out of character. She's a hilarious little girl. Henry's acting however was HORRIBLE this time. And I'm sorry, but whoever said Julie Barnes was amazing as Dilly's standby is a blame fool! She was lifeless!

Emcee, you'll hate me for this. But I didn't think Raul had grown into his role at all (I saw the show back in May). Even my roomate agreed that his acting style is still WAAAAAY too fast for kids (and most adults) to really appreciate it. I could tell something was wrong. I couldn't remember if the clock was in the Toot Sweets number or not? But I noticed a lot of the ensemble memebers looking very nervous during the number and they kept watching the clock piece.

Maxwell was hilarious as always, Marc seemed a little off, but they still stole the show. And all was right with me!

And yes, that Gabby can sing very well!!

I think a lot can be blamed on the material. I've seen the show many times and have noticed that a lot of times, even when Raúl gives 210%, the audience just doesn't notice. Or doesn't understand.

I think he's realized it's energy wasted and he's just having fun with it now. I think he's ready to move on. And I'm ready for him to.

He signed on a Tuesday? Wow. He must have felt bad about problems with the show.

I find the role of Truly is rather thankless and bland. I've seen both julie and erin each were about the same and neither impressed me much. However I cant help but think that its the role and not their fault.
