I am a Christian and i love Rent. Being Christian is about loving God and having a Christ based life. Christ is all about love, Jesus is love. How can you hate something so human, with such passion? Sure i don't agree with everthing in the movie, or think that parts of it would be lifestyle choices that i would make, but why must be hate, can't we be tolerant and embrace people. I've seen the movie 4 times, and i think it has so many lessons in it. Personally I think that people who act like that are not looking at the world through the right eyes are we not supposed to see with the eyes of God, and doesn't God love everyone, regardless of how they live, he may not approve but he loves. I mean sure, if you don't ant your kids to know about stuff, don't let them watch the movie, but if we ever want to turn to the good, has it been a choice if we've never expirenced the bad? Look for the good in everything. I see God in people, and the characters in Rent are people to me. I'll embrace what i agree with and just let what i don't agree with not bug me. If i use hate against it, am i not sinning, am i being any better, i think not.
like many of you, I am a Christian and I absolutely LOVE Rent. i just found that post to be extremely ridiculous and high amusing. wow, the things some of these extreme groups say these days. although i may not agree with all the things in the musical or movie, i certainly have no right to cast judgement on it because i'm still a sinner and make mistakes. plus, i love the messages that are portrayed like love, acceptance, and friendship.
Notice how they usually like to exclude the positive things about the show. They don't always mention the emphasis on friendship, tolerance, etc.
And as a Christian, I must say, these people do not speak for all of us.
