I hate those people. But their assessments always make me laugh.
I am a Christian but believe I don't think that way...and I saw the movie.
I grew up around fundamentalist Christians and I'd say even they would have considered those views extreme.
Does this make anyone else feel as though you're in The Crucible?
Yeah! Lets ban the movie! While we're at it, lets ban the musical and convert anyone who has ever seen it to live a life free of sin! Call your music stores, alert the webstores! CALL ANYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT THE CD! WE'RE ALL TAINTED!
MY GOD! I was straight before I was exposed, and now I have turned to the darkside!
::rolls eyes::
This makes me want to promote the movie more. Even in churches!
SO ridiculous! these isn't just an average christian point of view, however, it's a RADICAL christian point of view.
those people are simply absurd.
Jesus hates everyone who loves RENT.
Hey hey hey, by belittling their arguments (some of which i totally agree with, being Christian and all) you are only making them dislike it more, only creating a bigger problem, and putting youself on the same plain of closed mindedness. Many of these " Christian" articles are written by radicals, and not a true picture of the average Christians view on the topic, i know a lot of Christians that would defend RENT. while i personally don't condone many of the afore mentioned lifestyles and choices, i don't deny they exist, love your enemy.
The whole review that is taken from was posted a couple weeks ago.
Here it is.
I saw goody Menzel with the devil!

I'm sorry, did I skip the part in the Bible where it says cross-dressing is an offense to God? The eleventh commandment, perhaps: Thou shalt not wear a dress if thou art a man? And 'dying a slow death' is a show of violence?
And apparently Maureen mooning Benny was okay, since they didn't mention it.
To paraphrase Mark and Roger, this really is like the Twilight Zone.

I believe this is the same exact "analysis" we covered in-depth about a week ago...
Kay, the Thread-Jacking Jedi
Quando omni flunkus moritati (When all else fails, play dead...)
"... chasin' the music. Trying to get home."
Peter Gregus: "Where are my house right ladies?!"

That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. It makes me sick that people can be so intolerant...
It is so sad that these people don't know what is really going on in the world around them.
I don't understand why people get so offended over articles like this. It's not worth it. People have opinons...Christians, animal right activits, Muslims ... who cares if some disagrees with the way you live your life.
This article is directed towards Christians who share the same value system. Why should this be offensive to anyone who doesn't agree? It's clear to me some behaviors/actions/words are offensive to them , so it just serves as a warning (or a guide) to those who may care to know.
It wierd to me that people write things like "its sad these people dont know what is going on in the world around them", and "I hate those people".
Ok, besides the fact that these fascistic ignorant IDIOTS have no connection and are an offence to God, who preaches LOVE above anything else, the whole thing made me laugh very loudly.
And I am soooo curious to know... what is " ...the most foul of the foul words " ? Surely they can't mean the f word, can they ?

The entire "review" if that's what it's called, made me laugh. I appreciate the movie just a little bit more now.
"Let he among us without sin be the first to condemn"
exactly
I wonder if they realize THEY are the offense to God?
I find hypocrites so very annoying. These are the people that let their children play the most violent and downright criminal video games, watch near soft porn level music videos, and encourage interest and investment in Harry Potter...I mean hello? Witches, Wizards and Sorcery are about as anti-Jesus as it gets.
But these same people have a problem with a movie that promotes love and acceptance and being color blind. That shows how meaningful love and friendship are and that in the end, people are people and life is short, so appreciate it! Makes me angry. Harry Potter still hasn't gotten a dime out of me.

The Christian review of Rent came from this website: http://www.capalert.com/now_playing.htm.
Check them out. They're almost hysterically strict. Always good for a laugh.

I'm Christian and so is my family. In January, my mom was speaking to her lawyer who just so happens to be a friend of ours from church. When she told him that we were going to see RENT the next day, he blasted my mom for taking me to see such an awful show. He kept going on about how it taught sinful things and was like spitting in the face of God with all the talk of drug use, masturbation, sex, HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, suicide, etc.
My mom said that she thought it was a great show that spoke of incredible things: love, acceptance, tolerance, strength, and not judging others because they are different then us or do things that we may not personally believe in.
I told you guys this because I don't want you all to think that ALL Christians are bigots, homophobes, and ultra-conservative idiots.
