my friend is on a hanson board and she sent me what christian groups think about RENT , this doesnt surprise me but its kind of upsetting here it is ...

PLEASE BAN this IMMORAL AND UNCHRISTIAN movie to protect our YOUTH!!

Please do not watch this movie, and help us ban it to avoid our youth from being brainwashed into accepting liberalism as a way of life. Maintain the United States a Christian Nation under God!!

Wanton Violence/Crime;
* beating
* mugging
* theft
* irresponsibility with fire
* portrayal of dying a slow death
* breaking and entering

Impudence/Hate;
* 21 uses of the three/four letter word vocabulary
* three uses of the most foul of the foul words
* revolt against paying rent
* AIDS by sexual immorality and illegal drug consumption, repeatedly
* trying to make the criminal the victim
* making police the bad guys
* lying, repeatedly
* "I can't be what I'm not ... who I'm meant to be", "Take me for what I am or leave me" to excuse ignoble behavior
* portraying parent as buffoon
* "I'd be happy to die for ..."
* "There is no future. There is no past" nihilism


Sexual Immorality;
* talk of/references to practicing homosexuality/lesbianism, repeatedly, frequent
* intimate terms of same-gender endearment, repeatedly
* forced inappropriate touch
* willing inappropriate touch, same-gender and opposite gender, repeatedly, some very intimate
* sex tease, repeatedly
* stereotypical mannerisms/expressions of a homosexual practitioner, repeatedly, frequent
* songs of lesbian/homosexual kissing/practices, repeatedly

Hey hey hey, by belittling their arguments (some of which i totally agree with, being Christian and all) you are only making them dislike it more, only creating a bigger problem, and putting youself on the same plain of closed mindedness. Many of these " Christian" articles are written by radicals, and not a true picture of the average Christians view on the topic, i know a lot of Christians that would defend RENT. while i personally don't condone many of the afore mentioned lifestyles and choices, i don't deny they exist, love your enemy.

I'm sorry, did I skip the part in the Bible where it says cross-dressing is an offense to God? The eleventh commandment, perhaps: Thou shalt not wear a dress if thou art a man? And 'dying a slow death' is a show of violence?

And apparently Maureen mooning Benny was okay, since they didn't mention it.

I don't understand why people get so offended over articles like this. It's not worth it. People have opinons...Christians, animal right activits, Muslims ... who cares if some disagrees with the way you live your life.

This article is directed towards Christians who share the same value system. Why should this be offensive to anyone who doesn't agree? It's clear to me some behaviors/actions/words are offensive to them , so it just serves as a warning (or a guide) to those who may care to know.

It wierd to me that people write things like "its sad these people dont know what is going on in the world around them", and "I hate those people".

I find hypocrites so very annoying. These are the people that let their children play the most violent and downright criminal video games, watch near soft porn level music videos, and encourage interest and investment in Harry Potter...I mean hello? Witches, Wizards and Sorcery are about as anti-Jesus as it gets.

But these same people have a problem with a movie that promotes love and acceptance and being color blind. That shows how meaningful love and friendship are and that in the end, people are people and life is short, so appreciate it! Makes me angry. Harry Potter still hasn't gotten a dime out of me.

I'm Christian and so is my family. In January, my mom was speaking to her lawyer who just so happens to be a friend of ours from church. When she told him that we were going to see RENT the next day, he blasted my mom for taking me to see such an awful show. He kept going on about how it taught sinful things and was like spitting in the face of God with all the talk of drug use, masturbation, sex, HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, suicide, etc.

My mom said that she thought it was a great show that spoke of incredible things: love, acceptance, tolerance, strength, and not judging others because they are different then us or do things that we may not personally believe in.

I told you guys this because I don't want you all to think that ALL Christians are bigots, homophobes, and ultra-conservative idiots.
