Christine Ebersole - Grey Gardens

So I noticed that Christine Ebersole has been receiving amazing reviews from people who have seen her in this role. My question is why was she left off of the Lucille Lortel Lead Actress nominations? Mary Louise Wilson was nominated...it just seems sorta odd...what a shame though that she wasn't nominated...

Her omission was due to the fact that there was lots of competition -- Lortel combines musical and nonmusical actors into the same category -- and only 5 slots. Nevertheless, her being overlooked is inexcusable.

Yes, its absurd. But awards often do absurd things.

Thanks Margo for explaining that. I didn't know the details in regards to how those awards worked. It is a shame, she's such a wonderful talent.

Perhaps voters who feel strongly enough about Ebersole's ommission will wage a "write in" campaign. It almost succeeded in winning an Oscar for a non-nominated Bette Davis for OF HUMAN BONDAGE.

Better yet - if you feel strongly enough about the slight - why not contact the nominating panel and tell them what idiots they are (and they are).

What a shame. Ebersole, was fantastic in Grey Gardens.
Well, you have to see her in the role. She is incredible.
I loved it!
