I will be in NYC on Sunday December 14th. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of something my friend and I can do while we are in the city, we will only have about 2 hours. We don't want to Ice Skate and my friend doesn't want to roam the halls of 3o Rock to try and find Tina Fey. Anyone have any good idea...the cheeper the better.
well, you can go look at the tree, and then go look at all the department store windows. this map tells you to hit Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Barney's an Bloomingdales.

Only two hours? Are you coming in from an airport? That's easily another 45 minutes, maybe more considering holiday gridlock.
LIZA begins at 3pm, The bus is schedualed to arrive at Maddison Square Garden @ 1pm.

You wont be able to do ANYTHING except maybe a quick lunch. Buses arrive late. Holiday time....no offense....but what did you think you could do? LOL
Take pictures of Times Square and the theatre marquees...have a hot pretzel, buy trinkets at the several Broadway themed shops, ride the ferris wheel at Toys R'Us (is it still there?), go to Starbucks for a hot chocolate with whipped cream, walk the block around Macys to see the windows, chat with the naked cowboy (is he in thermals this time of year?)...wait on line to check out the bathrooms and the toilet paper dancers...the two hours will fly by, even if the weather is frigid. Enjoy the concert and your entire day.

If you're into Christmassy things, I'd say walk east from MSG to 5th Ave and 39th to check out the Lord & Taylor windows, then walk nort up 5th and see the tree at Rock Ctr and the Saks and Bergdorf windows. The walk back west to 6th Ave and head down to the theater.
Exactly, plus you have to coordinate locations in order to arrive at the Palace by 2:45pm. I think the only thing you'll be able to fit in is lunch.
If you were hoping to spend a few hours in Manhattan, you should have booked an earlier trip. You could have enjoyed the city if you arrived around 9am.
There are 2 VERY nice outdoor Christmas Markets -- one at Bryant Park (42nd?) and one down at Union Square Park. I think there may be one at Columbus Circle too, but I've never been to that one
There are tons of fun little stands, selling crafts and Christmas decorations and cocoa and strawberries on sticks
It's a great place to wander thru for an hour or so, and should definitely put you in the Christmas spirit

You probably wont have time for anything but scarfing down a slice of pizza. I'm sure that will be a Gridlock Alert Day, which means you'll be super late, and youll want to get to the theater before 3pm, which will leave with no time at all.
And roaming the halls of 30 Rock? Yeah even if you had all day, they dont let tourists just roam the halls of the building : )
