I'm not bitter, I'm too old to play Belle. If you heard she was incredible by members of the cast, that really doesn't mean a thing. They're in the show, they obviously don't want it to get bad reviews. Incredible? Ha ha, Hilary Duff is a better singer than she is! Don't waste your money, go see it when she leaves.

Saw you joined today just to leave this message about Christy Carlson Romano, showstopper. Always interesting when someone pops out of nowhere to slam a performer.
I've seen Christy in Beauty, and as the cast reported to marcthomas, she makes a very fine Belle. Her youth really works for her, she's a fine actress, and sings the score well. I cannot imagine what you find objectionable about her.

I have to say, I wasn't too thrilled to hear she was doing this show. I think she has a wonderful voice, but it just rubbed me the wrong way. But since, I have realized that she really does fit the part. I hope to see her, though I haven't yet, so can't say whether or not she was good. When did she start anyway and when does her contract go to??

Did anyone see the disaster that was Jamie Lynn Sigler as Belle? Now that was bad, Hopefully this girl is better than that.

Whoever played Belle when I saw the tour in DC last spring was dreadful and absolutely killed all my wishes to ever see the show again. I haven't, and don't plan to.

Christy has a decent voice... I saw that Even Stevens "Influenza" episode (yes, I'm a dork) and she can sing pretty well. I think she could pull it off.

I saw her and thought she was great! The fact that the Belle I saw on the tour was completely awful (can't remember her name off the top of my head) probably contributes to my opinion a little bit but I do think that Christy was genuinely good.

luvtheemcee: I watched the musical episode of Even Stevens too. I didn't think much of her voice- not unpleasant, necessarily, but nothing to make a fuss over. I personally didn't think it was a voice to carry a Broadway show- but if I had to choose a major role for her it would most likely be Belle (she has one of those blandly nice voices in my opinion). Then again, she was one of those "Broadway Kids", so there must've been something.

The Belle I saw on tour in DC last year had this dreadful nasal voice that did not do for the part at all. Everytime she sang I just wanted to go home and watch the movie. While I was not fond of the musical itself, she did not help my opinion of it.

I've actually never seen it on Broadway- I saw the 1st National company in LA...twice... the second time was to see Terrance Mann's last night...and boy, by that point, you could tell that man had checked out of the building.
I heard Toni was awesome but a very different Belle vocally.. she added some of her own R&B flavor to it apparently which made it cool.
So, I need to know who this Romano girl is.. what is she from or known for? Is this the first time Belle as gone blonde??

I have not seen her (and won't, really) but I just listned to Parade last night and think she does a great job on that recording. At least she has Broadway credits and can sing. That's better than putting Toni Braxton in there, right?

I agree with NYCbabe3789 about Hillary Duff.
I love Christy in Even Stevens and Kim Possible. She was a Broadway Kid so I bet she can sing. I can't wait to see her maybe in April. About her age, isn't Belle supposed to be like 17 18 anyway?
