I know that there's been much discussion here about the Douglas Carter Beane book for Cinderella, whether it's "true" to the Cinderella story, why the political themes, etc. This article is from yesterday's Newark Star Ledger (living in NJ,I subscribe.)
Of interest to me was that he stated that his story is derived from the original by Perrault in 1697. "The last line in the original version is now the moral of our story," Beane said from the Broadway Theatre before a recent rehearsal.
"Beauty is a wonderful thing to have in a woman, but it is not as powerful as kindness. With kindness, anything is possible."
