I know that City Center does window cards for their Encores series (I've seen them for sale), but are they limited quantities (since there are so few performances)?

I would like to get one for "Anyone Can Whistle", but I'm all the way in Washington State, and I won't be over to NYC until the 24th of April. Do they usually have any leftovers to sell somewhere (since I'll be going to the Sondheim Birthday Celebration Concert), or do I have to bribe one of you guys on the board that is going to see ACW to buy one and ship it to me to make sure I get one?

I buy them in the lobby for $10....the Triton gallery also sells them after the fact for $25 plus shipping.

They might sell them at the Sondheim concert on April 26, but you can call City Center at 212-247-0430 and inquire to them directly. They may be able to hold one for you...or even sell it to you over the phone.

Yup. Triton Gallery sells them as well. They still have the ones for Encores! Concert Series productions of ON THE TOWN, FOLLIES, DAMN YANKEES, etc.

I got my LuPone!GYPSY City Center poster by walking into an east side bodega, asking the worker if I could have the one posted on the wall, and got it free of charge City Center Encores window cards

This is probably a stupid question but the name window 'card' implies it does not roll up like paper (unless it does?)

Can you travel with it? (i.e. how do you travel with it).

thanks

they roll up, but they're pretty stiff. You might be better off laying it at the bottom of your suitcase in its bag.

oh, and the Playbill store also sells window cards and occasionally has better prices and a better selection than Triton Gallery.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Certain window cards are printed in different stock paper -- some are slimmer cardboard and some are thick cardboard. Either way, I don't recommend rolling them up at all. At all.

The best way to travel with them is (as mentioned above) by laying them at the bottom of your suitcase. If you don't have a large enough suitcase to accomodate this then the other option is carrying it (in the store bag). This'll prevent it from getting damaged/banged-up/dog-eared, etc.

Oh no....be sure not to roll them up!

I agree that they should be laid flat at the bottom of your suitcase. The Broadway souvenir store that is practically in the Marriott Marquis offers 2 perfectly cut sizes of cardboard. I usually put my windowcards between these and then put them at the bottom of my suitcase. I have never had a problem.

If you only have one or two, you can certainly carry them on the plane as I have done....but it's more of a hassle.
