City Center Partial View Seating

Posted: 1/3/10 at 11:54pmSo I'm about to buy a ticket for Anyone Can Whistle and they have the front rows of the grand tier for 95 bucks but at partial view. Can anyone enlighten me as to what makes it a partial view? I've never seen a partial view seat priced the same as orchestra and standard grand tier before.

Posted: 1/3/10 at 11:57pmThe only thing I can imagine is if they're extreme sides. I've never sat in any of those seats though, so that's a little unhelpful.

Posted: 1/3/10 at 11:59pmI love those seats. I guess it depends on the show, but I can't remember them being very obstructed at all. I've sat there and the view was great.

Posted: 1/4/10 at 12:01amThanks Emcee. It seems odd that anything would be obstructed for a concert with no set.

Sorry, but more than 75% of the seats at City Center are partial view one way or another. The only seats that I would say have no obstruction at all in the entire house are the first 3-4 rows of each section. Other than that you're going to be missing something one way or another. Be it from railings or more likely than not because of heads since each row is hardly elevated above the one in front of it.
It's one of the worst designed theaters ever and I can't believe they keep putting off renovations to fix it.

Posted: 1/4/10 at 12:08amI've only seen the Encores production of "Applause" there, and felt like I was watching the show from a window fifty floors up in the Chrysler Building. And they were not partial view, or the highest level!

Posted: 1/4/10 at 12:14amThe grand tier seats felt like fifty floors up to you? They're lower than most mezzanines on Broadway.

Posted: 1/4/10 at 12:17amThe only seats at City Center that I find really truly terrible are the seats in the rear mezzanine.

You'd be VERY surprised. Last season when they did ON THE TOWN, a lot of the action was placed upstage. Even from the front of the mezz that action was all blocked.

This looks pretty low to me. Emcee is that bar in the front bothersome?
