there have to be better choices then Nikki James.
I'm not a fan of her's or the cast, in general.
EXCEPT for Tituss. maybe he'll move from "TLM" back to "The Wiz" ?? I can only pray.
It has also been said that Louise Pitre played Mrs. Abagnale recently, and she seams ideal for the part. She has killer pipes and her French accent is probably impeccable.
"which is why I was attempting to "clear up" the rumors..."
Judging by some of your discrepencies with Catch Me if You Can (thanks Marc!)...rumors will "clear up" once there is an official announcement.

Rashad was a last minute replacement for Wayne Brady. I would not be surprised to see Brady end up back in the show.

that would be amazing.
Brady and Burgess to begin with... I thought Evilene was fine too.
who could play Tin Man ?
Marc, thank you so much for your input. I almost had a heart attack when I read "looking for a bigger name for the mother" - I am SO looking forward to Louise Pitre's return to Broadway!! I'm so happy that rumor isn't true, and that Louise does continue with the show. She is phenomenal!

I'm 99% certain that The Wiz is still not happening. The Dodger's lost their option, and James gets first refusal, and she *still* hasn't heard anything.
And if it does, it needs major work, and a lot of different cast members.

I was clearly wrong on "CMIYC" but I am 100% positive about THE WIZ.
I could be wrong about the dates as they are not confirmed, but the 3 city tour prior to Broadway is trrue... unless the Producers are feeding lies to the author himself?

Wouldn't be the first time.
I don't care if "Fly, Fly Away" is meant for a girl, I first heard it sung by a man and therefore I'll still sing it at some point.
I hope to god that the Wiz does not make it to Broadway. It is truly one of the worst revisals to ever happen. The new post-modern book is insulting to African-Americans and gays and the reduced synthesized orchestrations are painful to listen to.

Tom Wolpat would play the part of Leo's father, and Nathan Lane the part that Tom Hanks played in the film.. the man from the FBI.
Most musicals try for an opening as close to the Tony deadline as possible. This way the show is fresh in the voters minds.
The music for the show is just as good, if not better than that from Hairspray. I am looking forward to the show hitting the boards next spring.

I could'nt disagree with you more.....How was it insulting??
Considering The Wiz is rumored to be taking a three city tour before landing on Broadway I truly think that there will be more than enough time to work out the kinks.
Word on the street is that The Wiz is planning to come to Chicago.

Ya, people are such bitches. I feel like people were cruel to the La Jolla production forgetting that try-out productions are try-outs for a reason. If it was on Broadway as it was in La Jolla it would flop I think, no question, but they have lots of time to fix it.
Toronto, San Fran, and Chicago. In that order!
This FIERCEY person posted some pretty crazy rumors but "The Wiz" pre-bway plans have already been verified by the creative team.
Whether it actually happens or not, we won't know until they make an official announcement.
