Clint is a terrific director and I am certain he will be able to do a great job.
i like Beyonce, but she's no Judy Garland.period.
Lets remake Citizen Kane while we are at it.
A little originality here would be nice.
This will be the biggest flop of Eastwood's career.
It's going to end his career and leave Beyonce's career shattered for a decade.
This already smells of flop-stink.

There has pretty much been a version of A Star is Born for every generation since films began to speak. This will make the fourth version to be on film, we'll just add it to the pile.
I highly doubt this will be the end of anyone's career, nor will it be a flop. It will likely be a mild success that will eventually fade from memory.

If Clint plays the washed up husband I'm there day of release.

To be fair....no one is. Period.

Beyonce is looking to be Judy. She is looking to be Beyonce, and that's enough for the several million people who will go and see this and probably have no idea who Judy Garland was besides Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
Seeing as Clint Eastwood is artless as a director, this will probably be pretty awful.
Clint artless?
Moving on from that, while beyonce is in her Judy mode why not remake The Wizard Of Oz?
Obviously everyone is forgetting that the first version of this story that bore the title A STAR IS BORN starred screen legend Janet Gaynor which preceded the 1953 Garland/Mason version.
Did anyone in 1953 accuse Miss Garland of trying to be Janet Gaynor when that version was announced?
This property has been a huge hit every time its been produced and this will be a hit as well. Its just a fun, irresistable story; complete with melodramatic moments and (in the last two incarnations) deliciously over the top musical turns.
Its a good role for Beyonce and Eastwood's involvement gives the project some instant credibility. His respect in Hollywood is pretty much unparalleled.
I think it will be entertaining and I can't wait. I just hope they keep the character's name as Esther.

I am keeping an open mind. While not as legendary as the three other ladies, Beyonce is a extremely talented performer and Clint being Clint will surely try to get a great performance out of her. And to the person who said Clint is artless go watch Mystic River, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, The Bridges of Madison County and Letters from Iwa Jima and say that again.

I want to briefly talk about the 1954 version. Judy was obviously brilliant and I do think she should have won over Grace Kelly. However, I read somewhere that she said, ""I didn't appreciate Grace Kelly taking off her makeup and walking away with my Oscar."
I know Judy had gone through many problems in her life, but that was not a nice thing to say about Grace. Lots of people felt Cate Blanchett should have won over Gwyneth Paltrow in 1999, but Cate was very gracious about her loss. Then in 2007 there were some critics who felt Cate should have won instead of Jennifer Hudson, but when George Clooney was announcing the winner Cate turned towards Jennifer because she knew she was going to win and was very happy for her. Also, Meryl Streep has been very gracious losing 14 Oscars out of 16.

When Groucho Marx heard that Grace Kelly won the Oscar, he sent Garland a telegram that said:
DEAR JUDY THIS IS THE BIGGEST ROBBERY SINCE BRINKS

Now I feel very hurt for Grace Kelly. So much for the new era of civility.
