Here's hoping that this somehow makes it's way to the east coast, although I don't see that happening.

Is "San Francisco" that hard to spell?

Looks like a good excuse to make it out to the west coast yet again.

Here's hoping they somewhat have a nice production budget and can somehow recreate the original Broadway set design, with that enormous rotating staircase and wall of mirrors.

Can't wait!

FYI to all -- Sorry to bust your balloon but...

42nd Moon is a wonderful little theater company in SF that does an Encores! type production of old/forgotten/misunderstood musicals. Some choreography and costuming but no (as far as I know) scenery, etc.

I love these types of "revival" productions as they intimate and allow you to really hear the music and get the story without all the "dressing" of a BIG production.

This theater company has done all sorts of visits to classic and not so classic musicals. Seriously doubt anything will come of this as far as a tour/Broadway production.

LA has a similar theater company and I am sure other cities do as well.

That is correct SFFRONTROW...REPRISE in L.A. is similar to it, but uses mores set pieces and stuff than 42nd street does. I doubt anything will come of it, cause after all this is what they do. They take old musicals like you said and bring them back to life in more of a concert style. You can think of this as Encores in a way (for NYC). But most shows there (42nd) don't get looked at for a transfer.

42nd use to do their own recordings as well and they have stopped that too.

So, yeah SFFRONTROW is right, don't get your hopes up, this is just another show that is part of their wonderful season. And Ms. Marcovicci is many of the stars that have gone through there in the last few years; Lea Delaria,Maurren McVerry,Meg Mackay, Leslie Hamilton,Klea Blachurst and many others...

Actuallly, these days it seems REPRISE seems to favor doing full productions, and less concerts.

But, while the rest of 42nd Street Moon's season has been, and looks to be dull (at least IMHO), COCO stands out with great interest. It's had press releases in NY sections of this website and I think on Playbill, something that RARELY happens with their shows.

NY has taken notice because no one EVER does this show and it's such a revered flop. I myself can't wait to see it because I love a good flop.

I'm not saying it will transfer (not a chance in hell, actually), but you're being nieve if you think that lots of people in NY and elsewhere are sitting up and taking notice, which is something they've almost NEVER done for this little theatre company.

BTW, in addition to having no set (likely), they won't have an orchestra either I think. They tend to use just a piano, so as for allowing you to really hear the music? Well, yeah, you can. But since they don't have sets, it'd be nice if they had an orchestra so you could REALLY hear the music as it sounded originally. Just a piano? The score will probably sound weaker than it did in NY when it was full scale.
