Sometimes it's fun to get an autograph on something other than a photo or a Playbill. I'll be putting up a few examples of things I've sent to Broadway performers to have them autographed. The current photo shows the autograph that Gertrude Lawrence sent me when she was in The King and I. Notice the ticket prices in that ad!!

Wait...you're posting things that YOU got autographed? Why do we care?
I don't mean to sound mean, but REALLY...
But that is a cool KING AND I ad.

No, I mean, don't NOT do something because I don't understand why. If you want to post, then do it.
There are tons of people on the boards who aren't as nasty as I.

I personally would like to see them so post away! : )
I had the Broadway/London cast of the recent revival of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" sign the copy of the play that I studied in high school. It has all my notes from class in there, and now some pretty illustrious autographs as well
Don't listen to Munk, he doesn't know what he's talking about.....post away!

Too late. I took everything off my profile that I could. Happy?

Childish? More than one person (including Munk) told you to post... so what's the problem?

I don't get why people get autographs. I think it's cool I guess, but wouldn't you rather want to get photos with ther person?

Perhaps, if one has an inflated ego
Oh, come on, Tom. I love Gertrude, I would love to see that autograph. It must be amazing to have seen her in that.
You've probally seen more shows than anyone on here. Who else could say they've seen Gwen Verdon in all her Tony winning/nominated roles?
Don't let immature people get to you, espcially those who could only dream of the things you've seen!

Ego aside, I just don't get the point of getting proof of meeting someone of a higher stature (i.e. an autograph). I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm looking for people's reasoning. It's like getting Paul McCartney's comb and treasuring it for all eternity. But alas, it's just a dingy old comb......

LifeoftheParty227, that has been discussed many times in other autograph threads so go find one of those.
Many thanks. I'll be sure to check in with you before I post from now on
Tom, my original post was done with much sarcasm.
However, the reason I said I didn't care was because I thought this would become another thread of personalized 8x10's by every person who has performed in WICKED, MILLIE, and RENT ever.
The Lawrence one was interesting, and the Mary Martin one you sent me was amazinf - I wish I had that.

My original post was to show ways of getting autographs other than on Playbills and photos. I have a very large collection of Hirschfelds that are autographed but I guess that's not interesting to the regulars here.
