I know there was a post sort of like this, but mine is a little different.
I'm looking into either fine arts colleges or colleges with good music and theatre schools. I really want to major in music education, and I'm also really interested in a Bachelor of Music Education, but I haven't found too many places with those. I'm also thinking about vocal performance and musical theatre. My ultimate goal would be to major in music education ((vocal, specifically...)) and to minor in musical theatre, but I'm not seeing that option...anyone have any suggestions of schools I should look into?

Steinhardt at NYU has a great music ed program, and also a small MT program. You can't minor in MT, though, but you might be able to pick up music ed courses if you majored in MT there. Steinhardt is NYU's school of education and music.

I'm enrolled at Shenandoah University right now as a BFA music theatre major. We have a BM in Music Ed, and you can minor in theatre... I have a friend who is doing it right now, and I believe she is actually going to be certified to teach both music and theatre if that is what you're looking for. I don't know where in the country you're looking, but its in Winchester, VA. www.su.edu if you want more info...

well i know JMU has a musical theatre major and VCU has a great program but nothing specifically musical theatre. look into SCAD as well.

Good luck with that. From my experience, it's practically impossible. As is trying to double major in music ed and musical theatre.

Chrys -- don't be so pessimistic... :P

Seriously, take a look at the program at NYU that's described above... my roommate's doin it, and she seems like she's havin a good time and learning and playing and all that other fun stuff that college's all about :)
