Color Purple and DRS

This past Friday my girlfriend and I spent the night in NYC and we saw The Color Purple and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Let me just say that The Color Purple was absolutly amazing. I was moved to tears, laughter, anger, sadness, joy, excitement, inspiration, etc. etc. etc. The show has everything in it, it was fantastic. LaChanze was above all, brilliant. I have never seen a more deserving Tony award winning performance. She was completely awe-inspiring. I encourage everybody to rush out and get tickets to this show right now.
Saturday we got some really good seats to DRS from the TKTS booth, and although Norbert was out the show was still a great show. It was no Color Purple, but it's not really a fair comparison. It was however just as good as The Full Monty. Sara Gettlefingerwas my favorite as Jolene, Jonothan Pryce and Gregory Jbara are both extremely talented with their comedic timing. Lucie Arnaz and Sheri Rene Scott were also very good, but nothing extraordiny, just good broadway performers. The ensemble girls are the perfect specimen for the female body. Each one of them were freakishly perfect, but I'm not complaining, especially considering the skimpy outfits they wear at certain times.
DRS was really good but not something you can't live without seeing, The Color Purple is a show that everybody on earth should experience.

DRS is one of the very few shows on Broadway I've seen more than once. This is a big deal as I live in Florida.

I saw Color Purple once and I want my time back.

God, what a trite, horrible show.

It went from "Ehh, ok" to "god awful" the moment it tried to turn into "The Lion King" at the beginning of Act 2. It was really bad regional theatre, never even examined at being fixed for Broadway.

Loved The Color Purple.. Very happy it's doing so well at the box office too.
