Think of the possibilities.
Great music
Great humour
An end to the dread-of Nunsense
A Broadway role for Whoopi Goldberg
Classic songs from the movie and an all-new score by Shaiman
BUT:
It's another movie-musical...
DOH!!
But I still think it would make for a groovy musical.
Maybe we can talk Shaiman into it

No no no. Sequels never work. And the second one doesn't have good music. The best songs and the best story are the first one. If they do the sequel, it'll be like another Fame or Rent. The first will be awesome. Or how about a Sister Act 3? That would be an excellent movie, if they had the original cast

Posted: 9/7/04 at 9:33amI'm all for Sister Act, but not Shaiman! After the disaster that is Hairspray, I'm not sure Broadway is ready for another horrendous score.

Love to see what he would dish up!

How about Frank Wildhorn?
He's probably working on it as we speak. How many musicals is he developing now?

Posted: 9/7/04 at 9:45amI actually think Shaiman could do Sister Act, and I'm not just saying that because he reads this--I honestly think that. I don't think Sondheim would be able to capture it correctly.

Sorry. I was talking about Sondheim in my post. He would add to many underlying meanings. He would try and make it too radical. Sister Act is probably not the thing for that, so I was probably wrong to mention him. Still, it enabled me a good joke

Get outta my head. I have just been thinking that Sister Act would make a great musical. I think I'll lean toward the plot of the first movie, but hey they could feel free to integrate elements from both or introduce new stuff altogether.
I think Shaiman would be a great choice for composer.
