HOT as in popular or HOT as in good.
There is a difference.

Good shows:
PACIFIC OVERTURES
LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
TWELVE ANGRY MEN
If you want good and popular: AVENUE Q
If you want bad and popular: MAMMA MIA and WICKED
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Posted: 12/4/04 at 11:39pmI would have to agree with priest. I would also definitely suggest 42ND STREET if you haven't seen it yet, since it's closing in less than a month. Also, Alfred Molina's performance in FIDDLER is something that cannot be missed!

Posted: 12/4/04 at 11:41pmWhat's the status on CHICAGO, FIDDLER, WONDERFUL TOWN, and THE PRODUCERS right now? I live in Texas and get to NY maybe once a year. I want to see the big ones before I venture out to the smaller ones, if that's understandable. Or are these shows not so good right now? If so, we'll probably expand our horizons and see something else. Updated On: 12/4/04 at 11:41 PM

CHICAGO is still very much in good shape!
WONDERFUL TOWN isn't the same as it was with Donna, and I wouldn't say it's something you can't come to New York without seeing. You're not missing much.
I would say DEFINITELY catch Alfred Molina in FIDDER, especially if you're a fan of the show to begin with.

Also: when are you coming cause there are a lot of shows that should be phenomenal coming this year
Spamalot
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Little Women
La Cage
Gem of The Ocean
All Shook Up
Good Vibrations
and theres a lot of new ones that are opened already:
Brooklyn
Pacific Overtures

There are excellent summarys of the shows on BROADWAY.COM and of course this site and the shows' official sites as well. Reading up on a show really helps to decide so make sure you will enjoy the premise by reading the summary. I just saw 'Wonderful Town' last thursday...it was just cute. Brooke put on a great performance, but totally copied off of Donna, I mean not to sound all "Wicked is the bestest show in the world!!!!", but JLT made Glinda her own instead of giving a cookie cutter performance. BUT other problems were the cast was ok, except for the blonde, she was GREAT! The first act was the longest act I have ever sat through, and the only good song in the entire show was "swing".
That said lol...If you want to see something new and fresh I would reccomend 'Brooklyn' or if you are looking for something more traditional (but still new/revival) I would see "La Cage" or "Pacific Overtures"!
