I just watched the PBS recording of the recent revival Company and i really liked it. i Thought the music is brilliant and all the actors/ musicians where very good. I really wanted to know want everyone else thought of it. Also, its so different than most shows where it dosen't try and convince the audience they are moving from place to place but presents it more in a concert format. Can someone tell me the significance of this?
I wasn't crazy about the revival. Esparza's performance was polarizing; it seemed folks either loved it or hated it. If it hadn't come on the heels of Doyle's revival of Sweeney Todd, the thought of having the actors also play the music might have sat better with me, since it does seem better suited to Company.
I've seen the past two revivals, and loved the most recent. To be honest, I was struggling to stay away during the first revival, even though I adored the great cast. During Rauls version I literally got teary, just being in musical theatre heaven. The opening number grabbed me and I cared about these people.
There are literally 4.6 million threads about this...
Do we really need a new thread about this every 2 weeks? I don't think posters' opinions have drastically changed since July 16th.
And Pirelli in Sweeney Todd?
