Hey. I'm a 15 year old from Canada. 2 of my friends from musical theatre and I are trying to get the rights to a show to put on and start a small theatre group with some of our other friends from musical theatre. We have a pretty low budget. We've narrowed it down to Sondheim's "Company" or "Jane Eyre - The Musical". We have a small rent-able theatre in mind that seats about 150. I do the music (teaching harmonies/vocal stuff etc.), one friend does the dance/movement, and the other friend does the dramatic stuff/blocking. We are currently waying the pros and cons of the shows. Company is harder vocally and accomodates less people into the cast, while Jane Eyre allows us to include a few more people (though the max we want is about 16 people including ourselves). By the way, these people are ages 14-17. Please give us your thoughts to help us decide which show to do. We are planning to begin this next year or next summer but we have to plan financially/cast/prepare ourselves!!! Has anyone gotten the rights to these shows in the past through MTI? How much did it cost? We are desperate from some advice!
