Posted: 1/18/07 at 11:38amI just saw that Company, row A seats said that it was for the visually impaired? Does that mean that it's for people who have trouble seeing or that there's an obstruction? I must be oblivious.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 11:40amThere shouldn't be an obstruction. At first I thought they might be listed that way if they were front row, but the front row is AA. You shouldn't have an obstruction in the center, though. Where do you see that, on Telecharge?

Posted: 1/18/07 at 11:52amRow A is perfect except you do miss one effect that happens with lighting.....

Posted: 1/18/07 at 11:57amDo you mean during Being Alive? You don't really miss it up front, it just looks different, which is kind of to be expected. The difference isn't even really because you're up so close, it's about looking at it head-on anywhere in the orchestra versus looking at it from above. You certainly still see it.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 1:08pmThere definitely aren't obstructions, so I would assume that it means that the seats are reserved for people who are visually impaired.

Hi, I just wanted to clear this up.
Being legally blind, when I ordered my tickets to COMPANY, the seats they gave me were 107 and 108, Row A, Center Orchestra for December the 5th. The seating was PERFECT -- considering my disability, and (thankfully) I was able to catch EVERYTHING lighting effect-wise. Masterful job.
By the by, "Visually Impaired" seating oftentimes, refers to the seating best available for those with severe low vision -- Views are not obstructed.
I hope that clears things up!
Best,

Posted: 1/18/07 at 3:23pmI might as well ask this question here, how is Row A of the rear mezzannine? I'm seeing the show on Sunday.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 3:29pmIf this helps at all, I sat in Row G on the rear mezz, and while it was far away, the view was great.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 6:30pmI sat in Row A Rear Mezzanine for opening night, and thought it was fine. You will see some of the placement effects (and the lighting effect during Being Alive discussed above) perfectly.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 8:55pmWhat happened with the lighting during Being Alive? I was in the center of row AA but I don't remember noticing anything w/ the lighting.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 9:01pmI've sat in the box and in the first row and the only thing you'd miss sitting in the front row is the "birthday cake" lighting effect. Thats it and its not that big.

Posted: 1/18/07 at 11:10pmI DEF missed the whole "birthday cake" lighting while sitting in the front row. However it was a GREAT added touch when i sat in the box. Cape Twirl of Doom, PVT for your answer, it could be seen as a spoiler.

Spoiler, I guess.
When Bobby gets up from the piano and walks to the tip of the diamond in the second half of Being Alive, he steps into a beam of light. After his friends all go away following the dialogue finale, Bobby is alone on stage. He looks up into that beam of light and "blows out the candles." The light slowly dims until it's pitch dark. It's beautiful beyond words. You can see that happen from the front row, and you can also see Bobby walk into the light, but what you don't see is the shape of the projection, which I guess is what people are calling the birthday cake effect. If you were to be looking down on the stage from above, you'd see that the beams of light are perfect circles, like birthday cakes, projected onto the floor. Is that what people are saying they missed?
End potential spoiler.
Row A rear mezz is a near-perfect location for the show's visuals. Have fun!

Posted: 1/22/07 at 3:57amdidn't want to create a new thread since i have a similar question. The $36 ticket seats at the rear of the mezz. are they obstructed or are they like the $36 seats that sweeney had?
#16re: Company-row A center.. visually impaired?
Posted: 1/22/07 at 9:20amThey're pretty similar to the Sweeney rear mezz seats, except I think the Barrymore's mezzanine is a couple of rows bigger. They're definitely not obstructed at all; in fact, the ideal place from which to watch the show is actually from the mezzanine. It's a lot more beautiful to look at from above.

Posted: 1/22/07 at 12:16pmI sat in Row G (last row) center. Like I said, while its far back and high up, the view is great.
