Tuomas Holopainen. A Nightwish musical would kick ass, lol. but seriously, i doubt many know who he is, he's the keyboardist and composer for all the songs by symphonic metal band Nightwish. I think if given the opportunity to write a musical it would be Fantastic. Odd choice i know, but im an odd boy.
heres one of his songs

Oh yeah, And Danny Elfman :)

Charles Aznavour has already written a musical called Lautrec.
I read about it in a Time article. It was bound for London.
Don't know whatever happened to it. I would like to hear more
from Jim Steinman, but he's already written a heap for Off
Broadway in the 70s

If Rupert Holmes is the same Rupert Holmes that worked on the AMC show "Remember WENN", then I agree, I'd love to hear anything he has done outside of that show.
Does anyone know of anything of his that's available for purchase?

Sammy Cahn, contributed to several musicals, sometimes just lyrics, somtimes music and lyrics.
HIGH BUTTON SHOES, 1947
TWO'S COMPANY, 1952
EDDIE FISHER AT THE WINTER GARDEN, 1962
COME ON STRONG, 1962 (straight play with a title song)
SKYSCRAPER, 1965
WALKING HAPPY, 1966
LOOK TO THE LILIES, 1970
WORDS AND MUSIC, 1974 (revue starring Mr. Cahn, himself)
Several more revues followed including JEROME ROBBINS BROADWAY
Last musical with Cahn contributions was THOROUGLY MODERN MILLIE
You Cahn find Sammy on Broadway already.

Posted: 5/12/05 at 1:37pmTori Amos can write beautiful scores. Get Robert Hunter to write the lyric and you'll have a very deep philosophical musical.

I'd like Harry Connick Jnr to have another go, with a better book.
Weirdly, I suspect George Michael could write an interesting original score, too.

Lautrec flopped in London. I have a love recording of the show somewhere. John Williams also wrote a London flop musical called Thomas and the King. There is a CD available, but the music is instantly forgettable.
I woud also love to hear a musical score by Howard Shore and Danny Elfman. Add Rachel Portman to the list (though she now has an opera under her belt) and John Corigliano.

A christian artist by the name of Nicole C. Mullens. Her song, "When I call on Jesus" was sort of a metaphor, comparing her relationship to Jesus with that of Superman. It was done so subtle till I didn't really get the comparison until she revealed it in an interview. Then I went, "Yes, that's what it sounds like." She's a great song writer.
Janis Ian (probably the most underrated writer around)
Ludacris and Sondheim (A Musical version of "Six Degrees of Separation" maybe)?

I saw Lautrec, and apart from a couple of numbers found Aznavors (sp?) score quite dull. Can't remember any of it, in fact.
Danny Elfman (when are they going to make something out of The Nightmare before Christmas?!?)

Ooo, Rufus Wainwright!
I love Jim Brickman, but if he wrote a musical, I'm afraid the score would only contain ballads, ha.
