Saw him. He was fine. Acceptable for a non-Equity tour of RENT. Nothing miraculous. Just fine.

cool, i never liked him on american idol, his voice bugged me. just curious to see how he handled the acting and all the songs. how was his one song glory?

He was a pretty crappy Roger. He didn't really seem into it. His One Song Glory was alright at best. He was the worst out of a pretty decent cast. He just didn't seem to care about being in character, he was just there to sit on stage and play with his hair.

His Roger seemed to be a "love him or hate him" - some people throughly enjoyed his performance and his take on the character; some people... not so much.

I never saw him. I saw the cast after he left the show (with Andy Meeks as Mark and Dan Rosenbaum as Roger).

But I'll be seeing him on Sunday at the American Idol concert. :-x

Ahhhhhh. I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who loved him. He's not the BEST Roger I've seen, but I really, really enjoyed his performance. I loved his take on Glory, I haven't heard anyone do it quite like him. The only problem I had with his performance was the way he interacted with Brian Gligor as Mark. It often seemed like Roger was a bully. But other than that, I loved him.

I agree wiht everyone else. Had a friend on that tour with him so I hung out with them briefly and he was cool. What personality he had in person lacked on stage. To say the very least.

From what I've gathered through friends of the cast and other people who saw him, he had his on and off nights. I figure I saw him when he was "on." I loved him. The best person in that cast would be Miss Jaime Lee Kirchner...god I miss that girl.

Whoever played Joanne in the tour is unbelievable. Just ridiculous. And the Collins was very good too. But that Joanne, gaaaaaaaah.

Yeah he did seem to "bully" Mark. Jamie was amazing! She blew me away!

sorry to go off subject... but does anyone agree with me that the current Joanne (forgot her name) on bw is kinda boring? i didn't like her really at all, nice voice, but eh. i preferred frenchie-but nothing beats her in seasons of love.

begin rant... i absolutely hated his Roger... HATED... he was the worst thing about the show when i saw it... his singing was atrocious and his acting was non-existent... he wasn't even passable for me... i felt like going up there and beating the crap out of him.... end rant...

I know that was childish and all... but there's something about him that truly bugs me and i hate... you know how some people just do that to you? I personally also thought he didn't deserve to be where he was at in the American Idol concert... he's one cocky mother Fer...

I second the Merle Dandridge love.

Personally, I didn't like the tour Joanne very much. I mean, she wasn't a bad actress or anything, and she didn't have a bad voice or anything. She just, well, I personally thought she played the role as kind of a bitch. Which annoyed me.

I found Merle to be much more likeable, and to make a sometimes ignored role memorable. I also found the tour Collins to be not good... but UNBELIEVEABLE. But each to their own! re: Constantine Maroulis as Roger in RENT a few years ago.....

I saw him as well...eh, he sounded OK to me, but he does WEIRD things with his mouth, I dunno. It was an odd performance.
