any good musical theater actors have CDs out - ones that deal with musical theater. Like Matt Bogart or Josh Young.

A Different Kind of Love

Verity Quade and Robert Archibald. Two of the UK's bright young things and song choices from JRB to Yeston and more. Sure you could get it from Footlight or Dress Circle.

John Barrowman has a Broadway album out thats a fun listen including some unusual ones plus standards from the 80/90s

Oh and avoid any of Sean McDermott's albums like the plague! That man has the most awful voice. I dont understand how he managed to get so much work. The tone is just eeeeech

Josh Young's CD is outstanding.

Lauren Kennedy's album "The Songs of Jason Robert Brown" is also excellent. A must have for any fans of Lauren or JRB.

Let Yourself Go
As I Am
Currently has a third album in the works.

Definitely reccomend the first one because it shows off her range and it's the definitive Broadway Golden Oldies album, IYKWIM.

Rentboy -

Go to his website www.mattbogart.com and look under recordings. I believe he has a link to it from there.

I have orchestrations on Matt's album. It's "A Simple Song." Amazon.com sells it.

I would suggest getting any of the solo CDs of Anthony Warlow. He is not a NYC Broadway star..but he is one of Australia's biggest musical stars. He has several albums of Broadway standards, and then other albums that have a mixture of big band, jazz, and Broadway. I would suggest getting "The Best of Act One" which is a compilation CD of songs from his numerous recordings. PM me if you need further info.

Also, Colm Wilkinson has a great solo CD entitled "Stage Heroes" where he sings Broadway standards which a full orchestral accompaniment.

Michael Ball and Mandy Patinkin have albums of nothing but showtunes as well.

You know looking at my excessive solo album collection it seems that most of them are by women!

Very few males and thats over 70 albums. Trying to work out who has not been mentioned... Unfortuntaley most of these have the predictable choices from the 80/90s mega musicals or the best of the golden age. Very few male solo albums containing comtemporary material has passed my eyes! If anyone else can shed some light beyond Josh Young....

Anyway here are almost all the male soloists I have and I cant think of anymore!

Craig Rubano
Graham Bickley
Stig Rossen EXCELLENT
John Barr (yes thats right not Barrowmanre: Contemporary Broadway Actors Solo CDs)
Brent Barrett EXCELLENT
Ron Bohmer
David Campbell EXCELLENT
Peter Cousens
Doug LaBreque
Phillip Quast
Sean McDermott AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
Ron Raines
Hayden Tee EXCELLENT

Now if the gods of musical theatre were kind the following people would release albums of contemporary or otherwise broadway music

Brian d'Arcy James
Michael Arden
Norbert Leo Butz
Raul Esparaza
Norm Lewis

did I leave anyone out? re: Contemporary Broadway Actors Solo CDs I would be first in line to buy those.

Michael Ball has a Musicals cd and a Movies cd. Both very good. His recent "Music" has more contemporary songs, but very well done. His "Essentials" has lots of songs from musicals.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

seriously are you either a twisted troll or a eight year old boy?

We dont get everything we want. Life sucks. Bush and big business continue to rape the world and you will continue to live without cast recording of those abysmal shows!!!!!!

Oh and here is a little hint. If you really wanted recordings of those shows there are ways and means. Use your iniative boy:-P

seriously, Bryan, if you wanted a recording of those shows, just ask people. and leave us alone.

Anyways, Euan's CD isn't Broadway related stuff right?

ok - one not mentioned - J. Mark McVey - Broadway and Beyond (has Bring Him Home and Music of the Night among others) and If You Really Knew Me - which is all Marvin Hamlisch - but, it includes songs from Chorus Line and They're Playing Our Song - If you never heard him in Les Miz - his BHH is awesome.

I have "More Simple Songs," but I bought it from one of his shows. It's good, but I like "Simple Songs" better.

Philip Quast has an album???? I think I just had a tiny anuerism.
