Hi BroadwayWorld! I'm currently in need of a contemporary teen monologue from a published play. It can be comedic or dramatic, I just need it to be age appropriate.
Last time I asked for a contemporary monologue on here, I got recommended shakespeare.....let's hope I'm luckier this time lol.
Thank you!

Teens can range from thirteen to nineteen - more specific.

Dance Nation had a monologue that was comedic and also dramatic, but I’m not sure it’s really appropriate for teens as it did have some pretty intense language...

Dance Nation has a number of monologues. It can be purchased from Playwrights Horizons online.
Not sure why it would not be teen appropriate.

The one that stood out to me featured some pretty heavy language such as...
Cunt.
Tasting my ****.
Cumming from tasting my ****.
Which I don’t think it’s really teen appropriate, but it might be... who knows really...

It has nothing to do with being "appropriate for a teen." The monologue you selescted would not be anyone's first choice out of context.
The play has plenty of others she can choose from.
And it is a play that teenagers like.

Lucy Thurber also has some good teenage characters in her plays (though I cannot specifically name any monologues.)
Does The Wolves have any strong monologues?
I would look at Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, maybe Hamlet. Much Ado About Nothing has some good stuff too.

I actually do think that was one of the strongest monologues of the play, and for me, it can stand without context. I really liked Dance Nation, hence me recommending it, I was just giving a friendly warning that some people might have problems with some of the language, that’s all.
I don’t remember The Wolves having any monologues really. But I could be wrong.

Do you know the meaning of CONTEMPORARY? The OP stated, "I'm currently in need of a contemporary teen..."
Shakespeare is not a CONTEMPORARY playwright.
Um Shakespeare is totally contemporary. Clearly you know nothing.
I think you should do To Be or Not to Be from As You Like It. Did you know that Cherry Jones originated that part and won the Tony? Bet you didn't know that, A Director.
She done lost her mind!
I’m a sophomore in high school, but I look older. anything 15-18 maybe.
Yes, george and dot knows that, perhaps she's trying to be funny.
Try my favorite monologue... Slow Dance on the Killing Ground. If you are an older teen. ( which someone asked about)
Dance Nation seems pretty interesting to me, but I can’t find any monologues for it online ):
Well, since you should read/study 5he entire work when preparing s monologue, that's not a bad thing.

The Rape of the Sabine Women by Grace B. Matthias has a killer monologue right at the end.
