Sorry if this should have gone in the off-topic board.
A couple weeks ago the DVD/Blu-ray came out of Francis Ford Coppola's remastered edition of his 1984 film, now called "The Cotton Club Encore." I had never seen the film before, and had always read that is was a bit of a mess. But I watched it for the first time this weekend, and it is really a delight. Supposedly about 35 minutes of previously cut footage was re-added which helps make sense of the plot.
The recreations of performances at Harlem's Cotton Club are sensational, as is the tap dancing by the late Gregory Hines and his brother Maurice. A very young Diane Lane is breathtakingly gorgeous. BUT the biggest sensation was seeing Gwen Verdon as Richard Gere's mother - though she only has a very brief moment of dancong at the very end of the film.
Highly recommended.
