Incepting NYC in 2026

Decided to use my Audience Rewards to see Buena Vista Social Club. Telecharge says it runs 130 minutes including intermission. Will go see a late jazz show afterwards. Also, the Rockettes had a discount running through this past weekend that included no service fees on select dates and times. A Friday matinee during my visit was on the list, so booked that as well. $65 total for an Orchestra seat seems not bad. Never been before.

Thanks.I have deleted what I had to say about Downstate, as I don't want to get too political. Also some of my views are as a result of trauma from past experiences, and also growing up in the early 80's in Vancouver which was terrorized by child killer Clifford Olsen during that era.

Thanks for the advice. Welcome to BroadwayWorld.Wanted has gotten a few mixed reviews recently here. I'm back at Easter, so if it lasts I might see it then. The Heart doesn't interest me, and I already have a ticket for one 90 minute show with Imaginary Invalid. Would rather something meatier.I passed on Lincoln in the Bardo when it was available through Audience Rewards for the date I had available. Edit: I'm deleting what I had to say about Downstate, as I don't want to get too political.

Playbill: Brecht and Weill's Happy End Will Receive NYC Concert PerformanceThis story came out just over a week ago, and caught my attention. I thought about it all week, and yesterday found United would let me move my flight into NYC up a couple days at no charge- which means I probably paid too much for my flights to begin with. Such a rare opportunity to hear this Kurt Weill score. This meant I could also add a

I wouldn't have gone to the effort to search up all these reviews individually, so I appreciate being able to read them all here Coffeebreak. Thanks.I had already passed on seeing this before really understanding what the plot actually was. I think I would have felt very uncomfortable showing up blindly to a musical that ended up being about slavery.

What's with so many problematic shows offBwy right now? Well 2, this and Slam Frank? I guess whoever can put up the money for a theatre, regardless if the show is good or not?

Have a visit planned for Easter. Was interested in Hallelujah Baby, but I think I will hold off now that the show has changed. So far for that trip booked Evita, Paddington, & Sound of Music. Need to book Damn Yankees.

Where Did Las Vegas Go Wron

Oct 13, 2026 — 9:41:14 AM

I know Vegas shows aren't the focus of this board, but I guess I'm just egotistical enough to think someone out there might be interested in my comments on a couple of the other residencies I saw last week. I already posted my comments on the Oh, Mary tour on that thread. Last Wednesday I saw Josh Groban at Caesars Palace. At one point in his show he made a joke that most folks in the audience likely were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversaries. It definitely felt like his target audienc...

Yes. He should do a "get ready with me" reel where he just doesn't put clothes on.No but, they wanted to show he could sing. OMG! They could put him in Times Square in his underpants and singing. Oh wait, somebody already does that.

Oh Mary Tour - REVIEW!!

Thinking about this more today, and it felt like Alaska really used a lot of hand gestures in their acting, and those kind of felt a bit forced & not so natural at some points. Like they were thinking "now my hands do this." With more time it will probably look more natural. That's the only complaint I might have.

Oh Mary Tour - REVIEW!!

Oct 9, 2026 — 12:50:51 AM

Got out of the show here in Las Vegas about 40 minutes ago. Just walked over to Fremont St, and getting some pancakes & eggs. Maybe I should have gone for ice cream?Fun being in a theatre full of people for whom every moment is a surprise. The shock at the conclusion was amazing.I think Alaska paces things a hair slower than when I saw it in 2024 with Escola, so that it plays better in such a large house. I really liked Morrison as Abraham more than when I saw Ricamora. When the tour stated s...

Marla Mindelle & Josh Sharp Will Lead A KIDMAN CAROL at New World Stages

Oct 7, 2026 — 10:53:29 PM

Sounds like something for a grimy drag bar. Actually I just got an email today for a new show at the Oasis in San Francisco: SQream a drag parody. I went to their summer 2025 show JurassiQ Park and it was fun. If anyone is in San Francisco the email had a promo code for $15 off tickets; FRIENDSANDFAMILY15I'm going to miss this Maria Mindelle show as I had November 16 open until about half an hour before I read this post. On Audience Rewards they added tickets for Jenufa at The Met today, so I...

Where Did Las Vegas Go Wron

Uncageg, yes airfares have gotten ridiculous. I booked this trip before the Iran conflict began and oil prices started going crazy so got a reasonable price. I did have a change fee when I extended the trip later in order to see Miss Ross. Originally I just wanted a long-weekend getaway for Canadian Thanksgiving when weather in Vancouver starts to turn cold, wet & gloomy. So I saw Awakenings last night. Wow what a mess. They took ideas from Cirque du Soleil shows like incorporating acrobatic a...

Where Did Las Vegas Go Wron

Oct 5, 2026 — 2:29:29 PM

Flew into Las Vegas yesterday, arriving late afternoon. Saw Diana Ross at the Wynn. She's still grooving at 82, and flaunted her collection of Bob Mackie gowns. There unfortunately were sound issues throughout the night with mixing problems affecting the bass player. You could tell it was distracting her, but since everyone was powering through she just followed their lead. Her daughter Rhonda seems to be running the show & has an awkward section promoting her self-help or counseling or somet...

Grateful that I saw it on TV because if I had paid big money for that turd I would have been pissed off.
