Could someone make a mini TKTS newbie guide for this weekend.

I am either planning to go to NYC on Sun. or Mon. this Columbus day weekend. Alone (big surprise). I personally have never used TDK's TKTS booth. I know it is moving out from the Marquee to Duffy Sqare. the 13th I think.
But anyways I am open to see basically any Musical that has been on the TKTS Board in the last few weeks. Gypsy, Spring Awakening, Mamma Mia.... (OR Boeing Boeing) but how early should I arrive to wait in line for it. I can camp out 2-3 hours no problem. And Also money is not really a big issue but still would like to make wise/ and common sense choices. FOR EXAMPLE: If a Ochest. Seat for Gypsy is $130 and at TKTS it is $110. or something like that ,it seems kinda pointless to wait in the TKTS line
I am trying to get the best offers because I would like to see at least 2 shows a month on a regular basis. With Living in A-town PA the bus ticket for roundtrip is 40 so I would "like" to spend no more than $60 for a show.
Thank You, for any help :)
Sincerely Joe

Posted: 10/10/08 at 3:15pmTickets at the TKTS booth are almost always 50% off, so a ticket will not be $130 full price and $110 at TKTS. Gypsy Orch tickets will probably be $56.50 at TKTS.

Is it the same for other shows? ^^^^
I know some shows are more popular than others, I also have seen like 25% off.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 3:33pmSomeone correct me if I am wrong, but I think that is across the board as far as the discounts. The last time I used TKTS was last September. I got there about 45 minutes before it opened and got a great orchestra seat for "Curtains" for under $60.00 bucks. The line moved relatively fas. After they opened, I think it tokk about 1/2 an hour to get to the booth and buy my ticket. I suggest that you have your money ready when you get to the window. What I do is put about 70 or 80 bucks in one pocket alone so I can just pull it out, pay and go. If a seat is obstructed, they tell you. (At least they have told me in the past) And they show you a chart (At least they did with me) to show you where your seat is. I like going to TKTS at least once during my trips to NYC. There is just something fun about it, you can meet nice people in line while waiting and the not knowing exactly what you may get ticket wise is also part of the fun!

See, things are different under the Mariott. The line moves swiftly; even when it's packed, you're only on line for half an hour, tops. They also have twice as many windows.
If you wanna be safe and the booth opens at 10, get there at 9.
