I was wondering what you guys here could tell me about this show. The parts what voice part and how high the characters sing, thanks :)
I'm assuming you know the basic plot, right?
Let's see...
Bobby is a tenor who also needs to be an outstanding dancer.
Polly is a soprano...but nothing too extremely high
Irene is an alto.
Zangler does sing a bit, but it's not much.
There is a featured "cowboy trio"
There is a large chorus of dancing girls, and eventually singing and dancing cowboys.
Actually I don't, I just read the summary and was curios about the characters. Thanks for the information!
It was a show that was compiled from old Gershwin standards. It was written in a very old school Broadway style, very 1920s or 30s. It's a fun/cute show, but very stodgy and old school. The blue haired ladies will clap like seals for it, though.
Hahahaha, I'll keep that in mind. Basically you're saying it's corny? So you could ham it up with the parts?

any corniness was intended. the book was adapted by the hilarious Ken Ludwig from the previous book for GIRL CRAZY that was written by Guy Bolton and John McGowan. most of the songs from GIRL CRAZY were included and some trunk songs from various other shows were incorporated in order to expand the score.

Yes, the plot is intentionally corny and the jokes are intentionally cliche' - they are just a device to get from one song to the next. This show contains several of the greatest songs in the history of American popualar music - songs your grandparents know by heart. It needs a GREAT leading man, an excellent leading woman, good strong comic character actors in the supporting roles, and an energetic chorus of men and women who can really dance.

I just adore this show. Corny? Yes. Fun? Very much so.
Haha- Yes, this is a greatly fun show! I did it about two years ago. It was one of my first shows, so I was just a crazy follies girl, but it was so much fun!
