so i bought the cast recording (brodway) and absolutely lovev it. can anyone tell me how the reviews were for jodi benson? she got nominated, right? it's so weird for me listening to her when she's not Ariel! Anyways, she sounds weird. I like her but then I don't. How did she come across on stage?
"Crazy for You" is one of my top three favorite shows of all time - I think it's so much fun and so sharp, and I mean, come on - ALL those songs.
It's just wonderful - a completely perfect musical farce. and the original stroman choreography is out of this world.
She was wipin' the nose on the sleeve real country down home girl. I just loved the choreography. This is the show that made Susan Stroman and she deserved all the accolages. The "I've Got Rhythm" number was a hoot, with the whole cast plunking and banging and twanging along on garden hoes and washboards.
Watch the footage on youtube from the Tony Awards. PaperMill did a fairly good revival that was broadcast on PBS, but it has a chap playing the lead who, while technically excellent had no star power and they cut back on cast size (8 chorus girls instead of 12 and it showed in "I Can't Be Bothered Now.")
