Based on your own experience, when is it best to get to an uncrowded stage door? And which shows have the least crowd? Each time I've waited, it's been a weekend show and crowded, plus I also waited for Hugh Jackman on the second to last day of BFO's closing and Wicked on a Saturday day.
Also, has anyone met Wayne Brady before or after CHICAGO? How is he at the stage door?

Posted: 11/7/04 at 5:54pmAs a general rule, it's probably best not to go before a show. Wicked is always, always really crowded. Aida was nuts toward the end.... I hated that. It totally depends on the show. Last Winter, Avenue Q was really quiet - you could get inside to where the stage door actually was. Now there are barricades and you can't.

That's kind of sad that people know the exact time that actors get to a show. If I were Mr. Brady I'd be a LITTLE scared. That's probably nothing compared to Idina - people probably know her entire morning routine by now and when she's due for her period. Haha.
I stopped waiting at stage doors - the last one I waited at was NINE at the final performance of Antonio, Jane, Chita, etc. That production of NINE is one of the most moving things I've ever seen, and by that time I had seen the show so many times that I couldn't not thank them all and meet them again. But wow - the people outside that day might beat out the currect Wicked stage door-stalkers. My shoes got all scuffed up and I practically got trampled. I don't understand how people can act like taht.

munkustrap -
at chicago, the guys who work there told me that wayne gets out at 10:20. when i saw it with him at a matinee, he came in around 1.
for the idina thing, there was an article about her daily routine in the NY Times a few months ago
re: Crowds at Stage Door#5
Posted: 11/7/04 at 7:09pmI was joking - more or less. And i wasn't talking about Idina's getting ready to PERFORM routine. I was joking, again, way to get sarcasm, I was saying that people are so absolutely NUTS that they probably know Idina's exact car, lisence plate, what time she wakes up, what shampoo she uses, and pointless ****. And I wouldn't be surprised if people hadn't run after her car before. That's all I was saying. Sarcastically.

Posted: 11/7/04 at 7:16pmi know you were being sarcastic....i just wanted to clarify what i was saying so nobody would think that i have this stuff memorized (tho for the most part i do, since i collect playbills and autographs). the most mobbed stage door ive ever seen was wicked, but boy from oz is tied for that.
re: Crowds at Stage Door#8
Posted: 11/7/04 at 7:17pmIf you don't want crowds, wait until those nice 0 degree nights in the winter. :) Of course, then the actors might not stick around long, either.

For some reason, I love waiting at stage doors when it's really, really cold out. Just dress warmly.

You wanted to clarify that so people wouldn't think you had times memorized.
Ok.
Then in the next sentence you say you DO have them memorized because you collect autographs.
Am I missing something...
