I'm going to see Hairspray with my acting class on December 8th... can anyone who's seen it recently tell me how good the current cast is? How are Bruce Vilance and Carly Jibson?

Thanks in advance. Current Hairspray cast?

Carly Jibson is a definate standout. by far the best hairspray to grace hairspray so far. She OWNS the role.

Bruce is a joy. If you expect to see a Harvey imitation, you'll be disaapointed, but Bruce can certainly hold his own.

Chester Gregory walks away with it as Seaweed. Phenominal performer. You will love him.

I have yet to see Tracy Miller as Penny, but I have heard nothing but wonderful things.

I just saw the show last Saturday and the cast is very strong. Carly is great, even if she does overact at times but still a joy to watch. Bruce is fantastic and hysterical. The rest of the cast, especially Chester Gregory, who is a real standout, is fabulous. I really liked Tracy Miller's Penny as well.

Enjoy the show when you go!

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

The lotto seats are in the rear mezz, right?
For anyone who's tried recenlty, is it hard to win/do a lot of people show up?

And about the SRO tickets, they're in the back of the orchestra, right? Also, since Hairspray hasn't been sold out for a while, can you even get them anymore?

Lotto - hard to win/lots of people?
SRO - are they even sold?

Hairspray is such an all-round fun experience. Hard not to come out of the theatre in a good mood. All the performers were great. Dont forget to notice the hot dog stand vendor. He does a great back kick.

I have seen Tracy Miller as Penny, actually a few times already .. she does a fine job in the role ... she's NOT AT ALL like all of the other Penny's but that's not a bad thing, just different. Kerry, Jenn, Brooke they where all different in there own way but did have things in common and played the role with the same kind of major characteristics whereas Tracy reminds me of the more shy movie Penny. Her performance is very enjoyable just don't go in expecting to see the norm for Penny.

I also have to say that the new lil' Inez has the voice of like a 30 year old in that tiny little body of hers.. Wow, I think that she is going to go far in the entertainment field.

right

Lotto I'm not so sure about, but my guess is you would bee good to get seats on week night, tues and either show wed.. I feel would be your best bet.

SRO has been mostly on Fri. Sat. night and Sundays at 3
casue the show has to be 98% sold out for SRO tickets. It is going into the busy time for shows again so SRO will prob happen more during the week again soon for a little.

hope that helps a little

I had standing room about 3 weeks ago and the location is fantastic. The time went by very quickly, so you won't mind if you have to stand for this energetic and entertaining show.

Carly is very good...she's not as polished of a dancer/actor as others I've seen play Tracy, but I'm sure that comes with time. Her voice is a stand-out.

Bruce is good. He's not Harvey, obviously, but he's enjoyable.

Chester is a triple threat, incredible singer, dancer and actor.

I also haven't seen Tracy as Penny, so I can't comment.
