re: Broadway TV show

Oct 22, 2006 — 8:07:34 PM

I figured the show could have a character that was an autograph hound. She would be a little old lady who had every broadway actor's signature since Mary Martin and was always dispensing wisdom to the up and coming actors. Then you could have guest stars that had made bad career moves (think whoever stars in Gigli II) come by to crash on the main charater's couch. And how many shows do we need that are about doctors or lawyers or cops. Having know a few of each I think actors are much more in...

Broadway TV show

Oct 21, 2006 — 11:42:32 AM

Has there ever been a TV show about Broadway actors? There was a column on Broadway.com a few months ago about all the parts of the business of broadway that most of us dont see like auditions etc. I still have this image of the leotard and the back boobs. Most people seem to see the glamour attached to acting such as the money and houses but never the part about how one day you are working with Boy George or Elton John or Julia Roberts and the next you are on the unemployment line. I know th...

re: Jesus Christ Superstar: Dream Cast

I saw Jeremy Kushnier in JCS last summer. Ive seen him in other roles but I had no idea he could do the things he did on that stage in Kansas City. He acted so tormented he looked physically ill at times. At the end he just rocked the stage like no other. Everyone making comments about how great he was when your waiting in line during intermission.

What? No thread on this? Maybe I missed it but I am surprised that more isnt being made about Drew Lachey being on it. I realize he is more boy band but I first realized who he was from seeing him on RENT. I hope that everyone saw the finals friday cause who knew he'd go from Tango Maureen to that amazing performance. Hope everyone votes and that the fact he was on Broadway gets more notice.

Serge Kushnier is an original. Im not surprised that his playbill bio is just as original.

re: Scary Spice as Mimi?

Dec 3, 2005 — 2:16:34 PM

I saw her 2 1/2 times. The half was because she didnt make it past intermission once. At the time I was hating her performance because I think it threw the entire cast/show off. Now I just think because she got a cold or something at the beginning of her time with the show she never really gave it enough time to rest and get stronger. So she sort of limped through 6 months of shows. In the end I have to wonder if she didnt do some kind of long term damage singing like that. Perfect example of...

re: RENT World Tour

I am surprised at the "old news" comment. Yes something this big isnt just thrown together at the last moment but the tour hasnt even started and the post sounds like it already over. This tour promises to bring RENT to more new people than anything else has. The geo-political expansion of China has been phenominal in recent years and I am surprised that more isnt being said about the tour.

re: Who makes the best money on Broadway?

Nov 1, 2005 — 12:22:56 PM

My theory is that although there are a lot of people trying to make a living by working on Broadway the main reason a lot of Big named stars work Broadway is not to earn money but to earn the respect. Perfect example is P. Diddy(or is it Diddy now) and Julia Roberts( 20 million a picture and an Oscar) or Hugh Jackman I cant think of a harder job in show business than eight shows a week and keeping the same material fresh night after night and hopefully without the occasional cold or injury.
