I'm sorry if this has been disscussed but I was wondering what yall thought of the current b-way cast of rent.

Do you like them? I might go to NYC over the summer and I was wondering if I should see the show. I saw the show about 2 yrs ago and was wondering if was worth the money to see it again.

I'm also wondering has the movie raised sales for the show?
Thanks for yalls help.

The Star Telegram is one of my cities papers and the movie critic gave the movie an F. I don't like that critic anyway. I gave the movie a b+.

I am sure there will be a different cast by the time the summer rolls around anyway. They are holding auditions now.

Although it's likely that there will be cast changes by summer, the auditions being advertised now are the regular, mandated auditions which are done every six months.

You'll see mixed reviews on the current cast, as is always the case. There will always be people who love certain castmembers just as strongly as others hate them. My opinion, as someone who's seen the show over 50 times in the past 9+ years, is that it is always worthwhile to see the show. There has never really been a time when I've seen the show and regretted it. I've always taken away that feeling of love for the story and music, even if I don't particularly love an individual actor, or two.

The movie no doubt will increase attendance at the Neder, and that is good. Lotto crowds have been growing steadily, most days, for the past six months or so. I'll be interested to see what they are for this weekend and in the coming weeks. My bet is that 200 a night will be a minimum (this is where it's been on several nights over the past couple of weeks). The days of going to lotto and having a good chance of getting a seat are over, at least for a while. :)

Don't let the critics bother you. The important thing is whether or not YOU enjoy the show.

I ran by the theater at about 5:25 last night (Friday 11/25) And there were easily 75-100 people there already. LAter on they even had a cancelation line.

If you get the chance I would defiantly see it. Like others said differant people will have different opinions, but I still think the cast is overall strong.
