I don't know how many of you have seen this cast, but I have to say, they are simply amazing.
I've seen the show about 4 times. (Twice on Broadway, once on last years tour) This cast out-shined every other one I have seen. They obviously loved what they were doing and put a concious effort to breathe new life into the show, make the words their own. It was amazing. After seeing it on Broadway last October, I found myself disenchanted. Some of cast seemed to sleep walk through, I didn't feel the excitement or the urgency, the magic. I decided I had done my Rent time and was moving on. But a friend begged me to go last night and I am glad I did. Those performers were awesome. Each character glowed and I found myself caught up in the beauty of the show again. I don't have my Playbill near to name the performers so I am just going to go by character (my apologies). The Mark and Roger had such chemistry, by far my favorite Mark. He didn't play to too nerdy, but a bit geeky, meek, mild. I liked his interpretation very much. The Maureen was hillarious (and talented) Collins was WOW! He really brought something new. The entire cast was fabulous.
I noticed a few changed words I believe. The music seemed a bit different as well, faster. A little more rocked out in a good way. Anyways, I usually don't rave this much about touring casts but this cast is phenomenal. If you have the chance, check them out.

I saw this tour two nights ago... very good reproduction of the Broadway RENT. This was the third time for me, having seen the original Broadway cast, the non-Equity NETworks tour and this one.

I really wish this cast would move to Broadway and save RENT.

I've never seen it on Broadway but I saw the current tour and I can compare them vocally to the origional cast and they are not to far behind if not better, especially Mimi- she has way more talent than the origional and Maureen was just so amazing!

I saw them in October. I too would wish that they would move to Broadway and save the show there. There was just such chemistry between all of them, it was incredible. And Mark! I did not think I would like him, just because Mark is my favorite character and no one's ever good enough, lol. But he was beyond good enough. I LOVED him! A great first Rent experience for moi.
I love this cast! they are amazing! saw them in San Diego. Danny Calvert is a sex god. They should all be awarded equity cards and do the show on Broadway, I agree. That would be awesome.
Ah yes, I believe they could save Rent for a good while. Maybe we should start a petition?

No, petitions just make you looks stupid, lol.
I saw the current tour on the 20th and loved it. So much better than what Broadway's cast is doing now.
My Review
A ton of my friends saw it over the last week in B-more...ugh
Lol. Damn, I thought petitioning for a whole new Broadway cast might work. Oh well.
shlamdiddly ~ What's with the ugh? not a fan? or not a fan of this cast?
LOL I love how the advertising around here (I live near Baltimore MD) is "See Rent for the Holidays!"
Yep, nothing says holiday spirit like a show about AIDS, death and crack addiction!!

Oh I just loved this cast! Me and my highschool drama club went to go see RENT together and they let us go backstage before the show and meet some of the cast members and also get to look around the set. They where so nice to us and I was so star struck. This was my first time seeing the musical but I already knew all the songs hehe. Dan Rosenbaum, Andy Meeks and Marcus Paul James signed my ticket!
What city was this in pinkgurl? Yes this cast has a great demeanor with the audience and fans.

The tour is coming to New Jersey in March, which is where I live. Everyone here raves about the cast, so I guess I shall be treating myself to see it.

RENT is the perfect show to see for the holidays. it mostly takes place on December 24th. there are Christmas lights on stage that make ya feel all warm and tosty, tons of Christmas songs highlighted through out the show AND seeing RENT in general, just puts everyone in a better mood. it's a wonderful holiday show. sure, it's no Christmas Carol, but it works...

New Brunswick is where it's playing in New Jersey. I'm so happy cause that's like the next town over from me. I could just take the bus, and then walk to the theater. It's cool. I did that last month when I saw Fiddler. Updated On: 12/25/04 at 01:18 AM

No prob Zaney! Glad I could help.. They are truel phenominal.
excuse me. I have a question too.
I watched Rent in Baltimore on 23rd. and this is my first time and I have no idea about the show before I watched it. I even did not touch the cast recording because I want to save all the surprise in theatre.
However, I feel it is so hard to followed the storyline. And the orchestra is so loud that I hardly to follow what the singer sing. So, basically, I was lost in this show, totally. Is it only me who feel difficulty to follow the story in the first time rent?
I like Mark, Maureen and Angel, especially, Collins. Wow, Collins's voice is pure gold. His Sonta Fe is the song I love most. I don't like Roger cause I cannot understand what he was singing. Everytime Roger appears on stage I feel impatiently while Collins always warms me up.
