Current Wicked Cast

Seeing Wicked this week (and a bunch of other things) with family members who are coming into town for vacation. How is the current Wicked cast....are any understudies expected?

I haven't seen the show since it opened. How's it holding up?

the cast now is really amazing!

eden is elphaba. I LOVE HER! she is so ****ing good! My favorite Elphie- A LOT BETTER THAN IDINA, and a little better than SHO.

david is fiyero. AMAZING! He is great in ALAYM and him and Eden just have great chemistry! You should like him.

I haven't seen Kate Reinders as G(a)linda, but people who did say she was good.

The show is still great! I don't think there are any planned absenses.=D

I hope you e njoy the show! Where are you sittting?

What other shows you seeing?

Saw the show Tuesday night, and it is in pretty good form.

Eden Espinosa sounded sick when I was there, and supposedly she got worse as the week went on. She called out Wednesday night, but is supposedly still struggling.

Jenna Leigh Green missed the entire week due to vocal issues, so the there is a chance she could still be out.

Carol Kane was also out when I saw it. Some people said she was doing a movie, so that is why I thought she was out, but her name was off the understudy board when I walked by the theater the next day, so not sure if you'll see her or not.

david is fiyero. AMAZING! He is great in ALAYM and him and Eden just have great chemistry! You should like him.

Isn't Derrick Williams still in the show? I know David Garrison is the Wizard, but Derrick Williams is Fiyero.

The cast right now is the best group since the OBC (who will never be topped, IMO).

i hope for you that jenna is back because she OWNS the nessa role. kate is a really charming galinda, i like her.

I have had several friends go to see the production in Chicago and they all love it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback about
this production.
If possible people should check this out!

I agree the current cast is probably the best since the OBC... I do however think the show was slightly better a couple months ago when Megan Hilty was in as Glinda and Ben Vereen as the Wizard were still in the show. Really the rest of the cast was the same as they are now... but they were a little better in their roles in my opinion than the current cast.

I have not seen Kate Reinders, so I have no idea how her Glinda is.

Ben Vereen is perhaps a bit better than David Garrison (who is still wonderful), only because he has that "star quality." Aside from the OBC, the best grouping I saw was Espinosa, Hilty, Derrick Williams, Carol Kane, and Jenna Leigh Green. I don't think I saw Ben Vereen when Eden had taken over as Elphie.

Eden, Derrick, and David are all incredible - I've seen them 3 times (when Megan was Glinda).

No one will ever top Megan Hilty as Glinda. She is amazing.

I've not seen Kate yet, but I've heard a lot of negative things about her (and a few positive).

Aw, I hope I can see the show once more before Eden leaves in October!

I think David Garrison is a fantastic wizard. To me, he's the only real actor to get the role and make the role interesting to watch. I heart him. He's so charming and cute as a button!

Eden is a very good Elphie. although when i saw her, she had difficulty with the acting during ACT I, she definitely has the singing to play the part.

Kate as Glinda plays the more "spastic" and quirky side of Glinda than other Glindas have..I personally found it obnoxious and annoying. nothing compared to Megans layered, misunderstood Glinda.

David as the Wizard was superb. He was definitely the best Wizard I've seen (I've seen all of them). He definitely acted the character the best and made the Wizard and enjoyable part of the show.

I have to say that Derrick as Fiyero is the worst Fiyero I've seen. His voice doesn't compare to David, Norbert or Joeys and he definitely does not have the showmanship that I would see as Fiyero. He is a fabulous dancer and I still love him as a performer.

Sean McCourt as Dr. Dillamond is amazing. That's all there is to say.

My perfect cast would have to be Sho, Hilty, McEntire and then the rest of the cast right now.

To save starting a new thread, does anyone know how long Jenna and Derrick are contracted for? Just because I saw them the first time I saw Wicked (the tour) and am seeing it again this Dec/Jan and suddenly realised, hey, I might get my original Nessa and Fiyero, which would be quite odd!

I've seen 4 Wizards--and David has been my favorite--by far. Saw him on tour.

I was expecting something INCREDIBLE from Ben, since everyone made him out to be absolutely amazing in the role (and I guess he was much better than George in the role, since that is not George's kind of role) and it was a huge letdown. David was very entertaining--and Wonderful was finally upbeat. Loved his energy--made the part not totally dreadful.

Jenna, on tour, was great as well.

Carol, on tour also, was great--she's been getting rave reviews from fans.

The only person who I'm not so sure about is Kate as Galinda. Has she toned down the screams at all? They get very annoying. For some reason, she comes off as being a crazy, over-the-top actress--and it takes away from the performance.
