Cursed Child Cast Changes

Hi all :) 

I saw an article today that stated Noma will be performing through May. Pretty sure they just messed up the dates (I feel as though it's collectively accepted their last day is most likely sometime in mid-March), but it's made me think a lot of what I hope to see in the new cast.

Was wondering what you guys are hoping for?

I sort of hope they keep a british principal cast, although I know this is probably unlikely. I thought, at first, maybe they would (considering JK seemed pretty adamant about keeping most of the movie actors British). Until now, we've only had West End cast changes (other than minor ones) so it's been hard to tell. But with the announcement of the Australian cast, I feel as though we'll probably see an American Albus and Scorpius. Which is fine! We have lots of talent here. But part of me will be sad about that (I know Anthony is Irish and not English anyway, but still. Love the accents at SD haha). 

 

Now this one, I'm even more curious about. I know the original cast made a few changes that I believe they ended up actually adapting into the actual play. Is Scorpius' voice one of them? I've only ever seen Anto as Scorpius, and it's such a minor thing really, but I feel as though the delivery of so many lines would be so different without the voice! Has anyone seen the play in London? Or even just seen the Broadway version with an understudy? When I read the script, I had always imagined Scorpius to be rather soft spoken. Now I can't imagine an actor playing him in another way. I'd love to get a soft spoken Scorpius though :) 

 

I'm actually just interested in the whole cast change in general, especially for Albus and Scorpius. I absolutely adore Paul, Noma, and Jamie as the golden trio but there's only so many directions you can go with those characters as they have SO much backstory and content going in. Albus and Scorpius are such a blank slate, we could essentially see two completely different characters! Exciting but scary. I adore Anthony and Sam's Albus and Scorpius, but there were some parts of it I read way differently and probably would have went in another direction with, so I'm excited to see someone else's interpretation. I will miss prickly Albus if he doesn't stay though, as I've heard Sam definitely plays him the prickliest!

I doubt Equity will allow them to keep hiring non-Americans.

Other than that, I've got nothing since I haven't seen it yet - but you've given me hope at seeing th jer original cast since I'm seeing it in Feb.

I think you should be safe in February, even more so if it's toward the beginning. I see no reason why they wouldn't fulfill a full one year contract, especially the younger cast as it's their first time on broadway. :) You'll have a blast!
