Oh, i was in the most messed curtain call my 10th grade year in the Sound of Music. I was Max Detweiler.....it was like this:
Maleensemble
Female ensemble
Butler, Maid, Herr Schultz, Nazi Commander
Max, Elsa, Rolf
Sisters Sophia, Berthe, and Marguerite
The Kids, including Liesl
Mother Superior
Maria and the Captain
Elsa and I knew that the nuns were ahead of us just because Sophia was the tech. director's daughter, but putting Rolf with us was just wacky. We tried to change it and went out alone, letting Liesl and Rolf take a bow after the kids, but the four of us got into SO much trouble, even though the whole cast knew it was screwed up.
It still makes me mad that those stupid nuns got a higher bow than us.
I've always thought the Narrator should bow last in Joseph. I know Joseph is the tile role, but I think the Narrator's part is bigger (and a hell of a lot more difficult to sing).

(a little late on this, I know, but I must chime in) The show is Thoroughly Modern MILLIE. Clearly, Millie shouldn't be spotlighted. Ching Ho should get all the attention.
timote, I couldn't agree more.
When I did A Chorus Line, everyone bowed together, and no single person was highlighted---but I guess thats the nature of the show.
When I did Footloose the bows went:
Teenage Ensemble
Adult Ensemble (characters like Coach Dunbar and the Principal)
Betty Blast/Irene the Country Kicker
Ethel McCormick
Williard's Boys/Wendy Jo and Urleen
Chuck Cranston
Williard and Rusty together; Rusty taking the last bow
Ren and Ariel (me!); Ren taking the last bow
Vi Moore
Shaw Moore
I always thought it was an odd curtain call.
Adamgreer, I see what you mean. Although the show is called GYPSY, Mamma Rose is ALWAYS the last bow. So yeah, I guess there are occasions where the title doesn't match the order of the show. But I guess that's how it goes sometimes...

That was how the Broadway Footloose went, as Dee Hoty was the big "name" in that show...got her a Tony Nod...
when i was young i was in a production of 'The Nutcracker' and i was one of Mother Gingers many children. at the end we were waiting to go on for the curtain call, and since we were the least important they wanted us to be on the stage when the curtain came up. so they had us go onto the stage while Clara is doing her final dance with the doll. we were suposed to go behind a curtain that would go up with the main curtain. we accidentley went in front of it. i could see the director on the other side of the stage flipping out. lol, it was funny now that i think of it.
