"You're entitled to your opinion, and D2 shared his.
Once."
LOL! And Rath, you've shared yours... 2,738 times... and counting.
I knew that was coming. You're all so freakin' predictable. I don't say the same things over and over - when I post "more", I am either sharing something different about my experience that was not in an earlier post, or am answering someone's questions about the show.

Does Besty have a mouse in his pocket?
Rath, you're as subtle as a sledgehammer.
Or is it a shill?
If people only want to hear the sound of their own "voice," they should keep their opinions intact and to themselves... and not offer them up on a message board as a new post open for discussion.
Such a lame argument you're offering up: "If you don't have anything nice to say, go somewhere else!" You really ought to reconsider that philosophy, since you yourself don't practice it.
And the way you're trying to police my comments and others made on this thread today, one might think you have a friend or two in the show. But that would be BIASED on your part, and God knows you've never appeared to have bias toward this show whatsoever.
Now you're causing me to repeat myself, but on another thread I posted this:
"I went into this show wanting so much to like it that I was afraid I'd be terribly disappointed. However, the show exceeded my highest expectations and hopes."
Hope that clears up your "bias" argument. You know it's not true anyway. It's not like every Kander & Ebb musical, or everything Debra or Karen has ever been in, has been an object of praise here by me. You're better than that, Twelvy.
Actually, enough bullsh*t here... since you're "going for it" and insulting me in the process.. I know that it IS true that you're biased.
You DO have a friend in this show, and a very good one.
Now, shall I "out" you? Do you want to continue this charade, or do you want to exit quietly and stop trying to stomp squarely on anyone with a (mildly, in my case) contrary opinion?
I expected more from you than censorship, bullying and out-and-out "non truth" about your own bias for this particular show.
Darlin' you're lyin'. Now either 'fess up, or move on. But DON'T try to silence me with a lie as an excuse. You're better than that, Rathy.
Darlin', couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, I have a friend in the show, and most people know it. And for that reason, I WANTED it to be good.
But, I didn't KNOW it was until I SAW it. I'm not posting one thing that I don't truly feel. I'm THRILLED that it's good. But I didn't go in EXPECTING it to be, having read quite mixed things from the LA production. I was more than nervous that it wouldn't be good, wouldn't be fun, wouldn't be a hit. And, we still don't know if it's going to be a hit or not - the reviews have yet to come out, there is still work being done, things are constantly being changed.
I'm just giving my own thoughts and opinions and feelings is all. If you are actually believing that I'm a shill of some sort, that could be because you didn't like it. And that's fine. But what got to me today is that it seems you are going into a lot of threads to say that - some people could get the idea that you are on DROWSY's payroll. If they wanted to make that huge, ridiculous leap. But it's not true. And neither is what you're accusing me of.
And. you. KNOW. it. I'm done arguing this with you - it's a non-issue. Go forth and bash.
Oh, please don't do this. The issue is not about censorship here, or even dissenting opinions. I personally have no problem with anything that's been said on this thread regarding my review of the show. But I am bothered by how it has turned into an (or should I say another) unwarranted attack on Rath. She never said anything about changing anyone's opinions, or that their opinions were wrong. She simply stated that I have confined my thoughts on the show to one thread, and that that is not always the case on this board. However one takes the comment, it was a simple statement of fact. I myself have posted the same sentiments about other shows on numerous multiple threads. Who here hasn't? Can we leave it at that, please, and get back to a fair and honest discussion about CURTAINS? I don't want to see my thread deleted - I start them so rarely and I obviously was touched quite strongly by this show.

I'm with mlsheehan. I didn't expect much from CURTAINS, but I had an unexpectedly a wonderful time as well. Sure, it's not all that original regarding plot or score (at times the K&E score sounds like a Forbidden Broadway parody of K&E) yet it's put together with an expertise, care and real lushness I have not seen on Broadway in a long time - a refreshing change from the half-hearted Weisslerized cheapjack look of so much current fare. It takes what it has and sells it most entertainingly.
CURTAINS doesnt utilize the stage gimmickery one expects from a Disney show, but it's so nice to hear a full, original orchestra for once (Hell, it's nice to see a real stage curtain again), and a treat to see well-designed sets and dops lots of eye-catching, splashy costumes (I think William Ivey Long has outdone himself here, and I did not notice any recycled designs). It's as well color-designed as a 1940s Technicolor musical. Visually and musically, CURTAINS delivers the goods on what most people want from a traditional Broadway musical - they want to see the price of their ticket reflected with whats up on the stage. (Does anybody know what its budget is?). Its large cast is mostly pretty well-chosen: Danieley and Racey could not be bettered and Monk and Ziemba sure know how to sock their numbers over the footlights - subtle, no ...but VERY effective. Best of all is David Hyde Pierce, who will be making (the excellent) Raul Esparza very, very nervous.
I totally agree with this thread.
"Curtains" isn't terrific.
But it is entertaining.
I had a great time. And frankly, given this season, that was a LOT.

I read the cost of this show was an estimated 10 million MasterLcZ. After seeing it I have to think it was possibly more. But I'll help, I'm going to see it again on the 3/24, and I'll probably see it again after that. I'm a Curtains-holic!
^^^^ Cool i am also seeing it that day!
