Any idea when the Curtains OBCR will be released? Thanks.
Sorry if this has already been posted.

Posted: 5/21/07 at 7:04pmI want it! "I Miss The Music" was kind of boring w/ just piano. I was expecting more since it's talked up so much. Maybe I'll like it more with full orchestrations.

Posted: 5/21/07 at 7:26pmThe orchestrations for Curtains are excellent. I Miss the Music sound much better with the full orchestrations.

Am I the only one who hated that song? I adored the show but I was just bored during that number.

I think it may depend how you feel about the song style. I'm a sucker for ballads and angst, so I loved the song. But on my more upbeat days, I'm sure I'd rather not listen to it in case I got dragged down. ^_^

I thought the song was very moving all three times I saw the show (and once was with Matt Farnsworth as Aaron... excellent, btw). But I think I mostly like it because of the whole deeper meaning thing with Kander writing about Ebb and all that. Without the double meaning, I don't think the song is that strong, and I usually really enjoy ballads like this. I mean, let's face it: there's a good reason Kander was a composer, not a lyricist. In this circumstance, I kind of thought the weak lyrics and structure made the song better and more meaningful in a way because you can actually see Kander struggling without his partner, and you're like, "Yeah, if you asked me which I'd prefer, I'd choose the music I wrote with her too." But notice how I keep talking about Kander and Ebb here...I think that's the value of the number. Without that context, it's definitely not a great song, and it didn't do much to interest me in the problems between Aaron and Georgia.
Jason Danieley is a pleasure to listen to, though. Too bad I didn't remember to watch the Drama Desk Awards.

Posted: 5/22/07 at 12:29pmI liked every single song. "It's a Business" is by far my favorite though. I also thoroughly enjoyed "Thataway".
What?
Oh wait, Call me. Frank.

Raspberry,
If you want to see the Drama Desk Awards, PBS is airing the taped version Sunday May 27, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm (EST). As they say...check your local listings for times in your area.

I like this song better in the show. It seemed slow and sort of hollow sounding without the orchestra.
If you don't want to wait until it airs on PBS....
You can see a clip of the performance here.
