I know this would be a...complex issue, since Will Rogers was a real man who was white, but every time I think of this show I think about Conrad Ricamora doing it. Maybe a one night only thing? Or maybe we treat it like a fable, Gypsy style?
It's funny to me that so many shows boast about an old school Broadway sound and yet none of it sounds this good. None of it!

That’s the issue: Will Rogers was not white. He was born in the Chereokee nation when it was “Indian Territory”. Both his parents identified as Chereokee. So any revival would have to grapple with that and would have to cast an indigenous actor and have indigenous people on the creative team, to tell a story of the success of an indigenous person who tried (hard) to assimilate. Complex stuff that the show doesn’t quite get into.
I don’t know if WRF is a great show. But it has great numbers in the score.
