Posted a clip of Cyd's own voice in "Silk Stockings":

And restored the censored lyric to Jimmy Stewart's performance of "Easy To Love" - shocking!

Cyd's voice is definitely good enough. I hate dubbing. Always have, always will.
These are great! I wish you could work a side-by-side comparison on some of these.
Just my $ .02.
Cyd sounds like she was pulling a "Rex Harrison". That infamous half sing, half talk on the beat style he perfected as Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" and to be honest it works for her character. She didn't sound bad at all.
I wonder if there are pre-records out there of her for "The Band Wagon", "Brigadoon" and "It's Always Fair Weather"? I would love to hear those.

The Silk Stockings female songs were written for Hildegard Kneff (sp?) who really could not sing, so they fit Cyd Chaisse. She was not easy to work with and had Janice Page's best numbers cut from the film.
Did anyone see her in Grand Hotel on Broadway? How did she do in that show?
Back in the 1970's Cyd Charisse played the Ruby Keeler role in the Australian production of NO, NO, NANETTE. Her one song Take A Little One Step was sung at breakneck speed so she could just get to the dance.
