Cyd sounds like she was pulling a "Rex Harrison". That infamous half sing, half talk on the beat style he perfected as Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" and to be honest it works for her character. I think Jonathan Groff and Christopher Hanke are both extremely gifted actors. I saw both as "Claude" and both brought something different to the role. Groff's "Claude" was a little more innocent than other "Claude"'s I have seen but he did a great job with his songs. To the OP, be very careful how you title your threads. The title of this threads gives the impression that "Spring Awakening" is indeed closing and that the producers are trying one last attempt in an effort to keep it open, which is clearly not the case.

Then they can try to figure out how to remove Mitzi Gaynor. IMO Miss Gaynor was one of the best things about the film and besides the wonderful score probably one of the only reasons I watch the film today.

At the NYTW before it moved to Broadway. It moved me like no other show had up to that point. I saw it three more times that year after it moved to the Nederlander after the original cast left I never had a chance to go back but the show will always be special to me. It's kind of bittersweet for me that it's closing.

This thread is a great example of what this forum can be: a wealth of information and insight. A lot of you have so much to contribute and are so knowledgeable. It's refreshing to just sit back and read a thread that is so informative instead of one full of insults, put downs, etc. I don't have anything to contribute to this thread only to pay those of you who have shared your knowledge a compliment.
