So.. My boyfriend and I are debating whether to splurge on tickets for Bette's now confirmed last show on January 14th. Telecharge has the performance sold out. The cheapest tickets on StubHub are, of course, balcony seats... two for $640!! Crazy. Do we do it and call it Christmas/Hanukah for us this year? Do we wait and hope for more tickets to pop up somehow, somewhere as the date draws closer?

Any advice or words of wisdom are appreciated.

My gut tells me there will be more options as time goes on - maybe not 'cheaper' but probably better. That said, do you live in NY or will you have to travel and book a hotel to get there? Reason I ask is January is always 'iffy' weather in the New York area, so there may be some cancellations if the weather is inclement and people can't travel to the area. (If you live in the city, that would be a benefit to you).

Thanks David. We don't live in the city. It would either be a 7 hour drive or a 50-minute JetBlue flight (we live in Buffalo). But my BF's parents live on Long Island, so we always stay with them and just take the train in to Penn.

I love last shows and have seen many in my day. They're filled with folks that have seen the show before and the energy and applause is earth shattering. And I know Bette's last show will blow the roof off the Shubert.

That said, I fully understand why you want to see her last show. It will be unreal. But she gets tons of love and applause nightly so perhaps you might consider seeing her before that last performance in January. Regular price seats have popped up and you could save a lot. But I know why that last one is tempting you! Whatever you decide, enjoy!

Did you get your tickets yet?

I saw the show in May, and it was fantastic!!! Incredible! Even though it wasn't official, I did purchase a ticket for the January 14th performance back in May at the box office, and my gamble paid off now that it's her last show. Right after the announcement came, I purchased a ticket for that Saturday night, as well. So, I'll be seeing it 2 days in a row! :)

Thanks to all the honest discussions on this forum about Dolly, I bit the bullet and bought front row mezzanine for a Donna Murphy performance in September. I like Bette Midler very much, but not enough to break the bank for one of her tickets. Murphy's tickets were $99, and the seat looks great (according to the seating chart).

Enough people here convinced me to go and see Murphy - and I can't wait!

Haven't purchased tickets yet. $600-plus for one night/two tickets is a lot to swallow.

Having spent $39 to see Donna Murphy from the balcony, I absolutely would not pay $320 a seat. Depending on where you sit, there are structural poles in the way. Also, the overhang cuts off the front of the stage where they do some choreography and solos. I'm thrilled I got to see the show for such a great price, but I would have been unhappy to pay 10 times as much for a partial view. At the very least, see if you can find the specific seats on a view from my seat to make sure you're not behind one of the poles.

Smokeline2: curious. I know about the poles in the Balcony that can be blocking depending where you are sitting but what overhang is there in the Balcony? The Mezzanine, where I have sat has the sloping Balcony over you and can be annoying if you are mid Mezz but I thought the Balcony was free of any overhang. Unless you mean the rear Balcony where I guess you have to sit forward to see the circular "runway" area. Thx.
