...one straight drama and one musical that will be playing around April 13-16, which would they be??? I have 2 slots left in my trip, and I'm more of a musicals fan, but I want to also see one drama.
MY SCHEDULE
Thursday, April 13
Evening: Suggestions, please!
Friday, April 14,
Evening: The Drowsy Chaperone
Saturday, April 15
Matinee: The Pajama Game
Evening: The Threepenny Opera
EASTER Sunday, April 16
Matinee: Sweeney Todd
Evening: Most shows have weird Easter/Sunday schedules and I'm really having trouble finding a show I'm interested with a Sunday night performance. Any suggestions?
As far as musicals go, I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to either The Light in the Piazza, The Color Purple or Jersey Boys. Any insight into any of these, as well as your own personal picks would be greatly appreciated. As for the play, I'm an open book. I honestly don't really follow plays, but I've heard great things about Doubt and Festen. Thanks in advance!
***EDIT***
I seems, due to popular vote, that I've narrowed it down to either DOUBT or THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA. Due to unfortunate timing/scheduling, I can only see one on it's Thursday evening performance. The people I'm going with really want to see a play, but if Piazza's so good it can't be missed, I want to push for it. Help!?

Doubt is fantastic. Festen seems very Pillowman-ism. Having ony seen Doubt (Festen isn't open), I recommend that wholeheartedly.
Doubt and Piazza.
I second Doubt and Pizza. Piazza is an absolute must. If you really aren't sure whether to go for Doubt or Festen, rent the movie the Celebration. It's a 1998 danish film that Festen is based on. that may help sway you. Doubt is perfection, though.

I know you said you wanted to see a drama, but I was just gonna have you consier seeing Piazza and The Color Purple. They are both so excellent. You have a great line-up, and if you are set on seeing a play, Doubt is INCREDIBLE. But do consider Piazza and The Color Purple as an option. They are both stunning works of art.

"Piazza" and "Doubt": This is what I assumed you'd say, however, due to unfortunate scheduling, this won't work out. I do have two slots, a Thursday evening and a Sunday evening, but niether of these shows does a Sunday evening performance on the 16th which leaves me to choose one of them and pick another show with an evening performance scheduled for Sunday, April 16.
I think that theatergoers should expose themselves to as much as possible, drama and musicals alike. I think its unfortunate to expose yourself to one over the other. that's just an opinion related to the topic. please don't take it as a condemnation. Updated On: 2/13/06 at 06:35 PM

Piazza is a must, and you won't get a chance to see it again unless you see it then. (Isn't it closing in July?) The Color Purple and Jersey Boys are probably going to run longer, so you may have another chance to see them.
Piazza for the musical.
I haven't seen Doubt, so I can't recommend it, but I've heard great things!

Doubt or Piazza? Piazza or Doubt?
I know DOUBT will be running for a while longer, and if PIAZZA is really good enough, I'll push for seeing it before it closes, but my family wants to see one straight-drama on the trip and seeing DOUBT would mean we couldn't see PIAZZA. What a predicament I'm in...
see PIAZZA Twice if u wanna see the best Musical around today

well...Doubt really is incredible, but so is Piazza. However, Piazza is a diff. type of musical compared with the rest of your picks. i'd still push for Doubt though. Having seen both twice, Doubt is an amazing 90 minutes, reminding you what happens when direction, script and acting all mesh together.
Piazza.
I love Piazza , dont get me wrong. still listen to the cast recording religiously.. you really can't go wrong either way...maybe familiarize yourself with the cast recording and see if that helps any.
are you responding to my post Doogie? it doesn't work? im hoping to see the show again with the new cast...i can't imagine the material not being strong enough.
The Light in the Piazza is a must see, its beautiful, but Doubt is one of the most amazing dramas I have ever seen/read. Their both a must.
Piazza is the sort of musical that I think play-lovers will enjoy. It is also the most beautiful thing I've ever seen or heard.
