MANY CONGRATS!!!
Yes, big congratulations to Mr. Shanley. He deserves it.
Excellent writer! Authored three of my favorite movies: "5 Corners", "Moonstruck" and "The January Man". Congratulations!
Also, congrats to Sarah Ruhl and Will Eno for making the short list for "The Clean House" and "Thom Pain (Based on Nothing)", respectively.
Congrats!

Although I emphatically disagree with this choice, I do offer congratulations. I WAS very happy to see that my favorite play from last year - A CLEAN HOUSE - was one of the finalists.
Perhaps you should come east, DGrant, and see Doubt in better hands.

Magruder - that's kind of my problem, though. Not that I believe a 'great' play should be actor-proof, but it struck me that by having a sub-par performance in the pivotal role, we were left with the script to speak for itself - and there were serious questions that I had concerning its achievement of what were apparently its goals. I have no doubt that NYC got the superior production (and, given the time, would love to see it just for the two leads,) but the play itself just didn't work for me in the way it has for most others.
The Pulitzer has goon to two recent occupants of the same theater. Does it mean anything that we've gone from PROOF to DOUBT?
The Walter Kerr Theatre also housed The Piano Lesson, Angels in America and Love! Valour! Compassion!, Pulitzer-winners all. The Walter Kerr is encroaching upon the memory of the late, lamented Morosco Theatre as home of the most Pulitzer Prize-winning plays.
"Love! Valour! Compassion!" never won the Pulitzer Prize.
Right right. Just the Tony. Still, the Walter Kerr has a good track record.
Very true. It's my favorite theatre on Broadway.
