Has Dreamgirls wrapped production now? and when do you think we will begin hearing clips/full songs or an album.
Production has wrapped, yes.
Hudson made a speech as did Bill at the Wrap Party.
No new trailer/footage until the Fall...at least that is the plan right now. As for audio clips from the soundtrack...probably none til Fall neither.

Principal filming wrapped Friday (they did the "It's All Over/And I Am Telling You" scene). I assume it'll be months before clips will start popping up. There'll probably be previews late this summer before some of the big blockbusters.
we may hear or see something in summer because they will be showing a portion at cannes.
Supposedly the trailer with footage will premiere in August.
Excelent! thanks all for the info. also, does anyone know if they indeed will be singing dialouge as they did in the show? or has it all become spoken word?
I think its a mixture. Most of it has been turned into dialogue, but supposedly the entire "It's All Over" scene is sung.
I see Loretta Devine is in the movie according to IMDB. She was the best actress out of all the original girls IMO, and the one that i think works most today. brilliant comic timing. i wonder if the others ladies made their way into the film.
I saw some footage of from "Dreamgirls" at ShoWest this year it looks good. They had a trailer for the theatre owners to look at to get them interested in booking the film.
Jennifer Hudson won an award at ShoWest and was very nice, they showed the footage after she accepted her award. She sounded good in the clip too.:)
I can't wait!

John Lithgow has been cast in the upcoming film version of "Dreamgirls", re-teaming with his "Kinsey" director Bill Condon.
Lithgow will play a new character written for the film - a ruthless Hollywood producer who comes into contact with Deena Jones (Beyonce Knowles) when she attempts a movie career.
"He eats her alive...he is not a nice man," stated the actor to The New York Daily News.
With each passing day I become more excited for this film. I hope it's as brilliant as I believe Condon can do

Christopher
Yes Loretta Devine is in the film as a jazz singer.

In addition to Loretta Devine and John Lithgow, it also has Danny Glover, Hinton Battle, and Dawnn Lewis.
i always thought it would be better if they filmed i am telling you live. I am glad it happened that way, because it needs to be very raw.
...and as I posted on another thread, Broadway's own Laura Bell Bundy will play one of the two "Sweethearts" singing back-up behind Dave in the "Got me a Cadillac" vanilla-version.
I'm sure her fans here will be glad to see her.
well who the heck is laura bell bundy? is she a name that i need know? lol. and jeez,i cant stand dawn lewis. i hope she doesnt sing a note. anyway i know the film will be good. Updated On: 4/11/06 at 01:52 PM
"well who the heck is laura bell bundy? is she a name that i need know? lol."
Well, I assume you're either joking... or you didn't see either HAIRSPRAY or WICKED early in their runs.
Looking at the imdb credit list, I've now found my favorite character in all of filmdom:
Upset White Woman played by Debra Zane.
How was I not seen for this role?
uh no.. i havent seen either wicked or hairpray. i assume she was in those both. anyway people are mentioning this bundy girl though. i mean is she fierce or something?
