Capn--I was thinking the same thing about a medley, and making a big "entrance" of sorts. But they have to be careful not to promote the non-original songs in the film. So maybe (as you say) just an instrumental of "Dreamgirls" music or "Hard to Say Goodnight" intro... something like that... and the launch into the three songs, with maybe Deena workin' the crowd ("I love you all", etc.)
And if Eddie came out to join Anika for "Patience" that would be the best.
I just don't think they'll talk him into doing it. Just a hunch, based on... Eddie.

Eddie wouldn't even perform in front of the press when they were invited to the set when Dreamgirls was still filming. I doubt he'll want to perform live now in front of a worldwide audience.
Exactly.
He's not Mr. SNL anymore. A worldwide audience of that size, on a night when you're nominated?...
Don't think so.
Jennifer is younger, greener and doesn't know enough yet to be scared sh*tless of such a prospect.
She'll be great!
Eddie, on the other hand, would probably pee his pants and pass out if he attempted it.
It's already confirmed that Eddie will be singing.
They played the intro to "All That Jazz" when CHICAGO performed "I Move On." It's fine if it's intro music. They don't need to be too cautious.
Eddie, for real??
You go, boy!
I'm surprised he agreed to do it. But that's wonderful!
EDIT: re: "I Move On" from Chicago---The intro IS "And All That Jazz" vamp, as written and as played in the movie.

And Guess 'Who' Will Be Introducing the Dreamgirl (nominated songs) Melody?

Who? Jim Carry? Patrick Page? Peter Townsend?
No . . .
Jennifer Holliday?!?!?!?!!?
Eddie Murphy said he didnt want to sing, apparently thats what I heard on ET....BTW I thought "LISTEN" is an amazing song. It was the perfect "power" song for a character that had been lacking so much through the entire movie. I think love it more than "I Love You I Do" and I really don't care for "Patience" at all, in fact I havent listened to it once since I bought the CD.
