Beyonce' Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Oscar nominee Jennifer Hudson will be performing at this year's Oscars as The Dreams!

They will be singing the 3 nominated songs from DREAMGIRLS: "Patience", "Listen" and "Love You I Do" as the fictional group.

I'm very happy for Anika. She really got the shortest end of the stick.

The shortest end of the stick?

She has the smallest role in a multi-million dollar musical smash hit.

Short stick indeed.

I'm sure Anika Noni Rose knew she would not get much attention because she is not a name (like Beyonce) and because her role isn't the focus of the film (like Hudson's role); she is getting much attention and good notices for this film though which is probably what she wanted. I thought her acting in the film was devine and I'm quite glad she is getting the chance to perform at the Oscars. I take it Murphy won't be singing Patience?

- Doesn't Sharol Leal have the smallest role? Michelle is much smaller than Lorell.

It's no one's fault but Bill Condon's that she got the short end of the stick. She should have had her own song.

Actually Eddie Mekka has the smallest role in the film. He plays the Crystal Room's stage manager.

This was announced a week or so ago.

The only thing that hasn't been announced was Condon's involvement.

I'm talking about the smallest of the typically recognized "leads." You know what I mean.

Why should they have written a song for Lorell, her character really isnt that neccessary. She was great in the movie though, better than she was in "From Justin To Kelly" HA!

I dont think that her role was that small, she had more lines then Beyonce....actually, did Beyonce even have any lines in the movie...I cant remember.

I saw Jhud perform the song on Oprah and thought she was great!

Lorrell did have a solo song in the Broadway production called "Ain't No Party" which she sang to Jimmy.

Anika did sing/perform this song for her screentest/audition. It's been mentioned that this footage might be included as a bonus on the upcoming May 1, 2007 DVD release of the film.

Here's hoping!

I know, I'm a little harsh. I totally forgot about "Aint no Party"

I just think that the role in so minimal to the complete story, kind of like Michelle Morris.

Just my opinion

...how can they be singing the songs as the group when none of them are group numbers?

All of these news blurbs keep saying they'll be performing them in character as The Dreams, but considering there's a solo for Knowles, a solo for Hudson, and a duet for Murphy and Rose, there aren't any songs to be had for them to do as The Dreams, unless they're re-doing them specifically for the telecase?

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

If all three songs will be performed in a medley (some years they split up the songs in 3-2 or 2-2-1 or 1-1-1-1-1, etc.), then I could see all three rising from the floor in their famous pose for the title song "Dreamgirls" and to the tune of "Dreamgirls." Then they go off in three different directions and sing each song seperately.

If anyone should sing "Patience", it should be Eddie Murphy.

P.S. That's the song that should win. I really don't care for "Listen".
