DREAMGIRLS on DVD - May 1, 2007!!!

Dreamworks/Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the current theatrical version of DREAMGIRLS arrives on DVD on Tuesday May 1, 2007. It will be released in both a single-disc version and a 2-disc Special Edition version.

Expanded Version DVD (featuring expanded versions of the musical numbers) is set for a Christmas 2007 release.

I hope there is a Ephie, Sing My Song cut on the DvD.

Don't know if the "Effie, Sing My Song" filmed sequence will be included as a deleted scene on the May 1, 2007 DVD, but it will be inserted into the film for the Expanded Version DVD which comes out for Christmas 2007.

Very excited for the DVD release but I'm so sick of the studios wanting to make a buck! As a fan of the film, I'm going to have to buy it twice to get the "expanded version."

Well this makes me angry, haha, I guess I'll just have to buy it in May and then get the expanded version later in December or just put it on my Christmas list.

The press release on the official announcement for the May 1, 2007 DVD release date should be out sometime next week or so.

All specs on the DVDs, including info on the Christmas 2007 Expanded Version DVD was provided by Jack Morrissey, who is responsible for providing all of the material on everything DREAMGIRLS (movie) related. He's currently preparing the upcoming DVD release and just concluded the final touches on the upcoming DREAMGIRLS the Movie Musical photo coffee-table book which arrives soon at bookstores everywhere.

I'll probably wait until December to buy the Expanded Version (or ask for it as a birthday/Christmas gift) and rent the 2-disc Special Edition, in the meantime. No need to waste money on all three versions.

THE BOOK IS COMING SOON? YES! I ordered it for myself Christmas time, but it never came. Finally!
